Contribute FeedbackThe restaurant received mixed reviews. While some guests praised the friendly staff, delicious food, cozy atmosphere, and beautiful pub, others experienced booking issues, substandard vegetarian options, unclean rooms, and inconsistent services. Despite the ups and downs, the majority of reviewers highlighted the warm welcome, lovely country pub setting, and quality food and drinks. While there were some disappointments, the general consensus suggests that the restaurant is worth a visit, especially for those seeking a charming countryside dining experience with friendly service and delicious meals.
Absolutely dreadful. They have ruined our weekend for my nephews wedding. I booked 3 rooms in December, over the phone after an email exchange when they told me to confirm by phone. Despite this evidence, they claimed we never booked and the rooms were taken by other people. It is absolutely devastating and there are no other rooms within a 20 mile drive so we have to go home which takes over 2 hours. Never trust this place. They do not know what they are doing and were unhelpful when I tried to get them to acknowledge we had booked first.
Stayed here over the New Year holidays and on first impressions was very pleased with our choice but unfortunately it went downhill from there. Our room was fine apart from the heating being overbearing, turned it down but once the timer kicked in again it was back to normal. Our friends room on the otherhand was disgusting, with toilet backed up and dirty glasses left in the room, clearly hadn't been cleaned. She was moved but then next day asked to return, only to find the heating wasn't working, they provided an oil filled radiator but clearly the room again hadn't been checked thoroughly. The staff running the bar were excellent and we're almost as embarrassed as us on the fiasco that is the bar/breakfast situation. On the first morning of our stay, all our party enjoyed a full English breakfast for an additional £10, booked for the following morning, only to be told later there wouldn't be one. Then they told us there would be no bar facilities that evening too, not great considering it was New Year's Eve and the hotel was miles from anywhere. None of this information had been communicated during the booking process or before we arrived, seems as though the hotel/bar manager opens and closes on a whim, same with the food and his staff are left to deal with customers. Shambles of a stay and unless it greatly improves, we won't be back and would advise others to check what services will be available before booking.
Nice atmosphere good food and good wine, friendly service, great place just for a drink but also good for food
Ordered the beyond meat burger as was curious to try. Patty was ok, but burger was simply two patties, bun and half a plate of fries. No fixings, vegetables, etc. Compared to the non-veggie food not much effort or thought has gone into it and was substandard. Otherwise service was great, staff friendly and pub is charming,
Fantastic service from peter and amber. delicious food, warm welcome, dog friendly and child friendly, i'll be back, especially as its great value for money. thank you to you all. beautiful pub and restaurant.
