Very fun place to cook your own meal tableside. Grills get a bit warm so room can get warm as a result so dress accordingly. Casual, high value meal. I recommend the chefs choice for 2. Just the right amount of food. Best kimchee! View all feedback.
What Oggg doesn't like about Gyu-kaku Japanese Bbq:
I didn't like the concept of cooking your own food, my clothes were smelly afterwards. Grills were not working properly as to only one side was heating. Service was so-so and the atmosphere is lacking... I feel this was a huge waste of money View all feedback.
Went here for friend?s birthday lunch. Everything was good. We even got the happy hour special. Four people. Bill was under $200 including tips. Still one of the best Japanese BBQ I been to. Only thing not so good is finding parking sometimes.
First time eating Japanese BBQ. Had the 3 meat selection lunch special which came with miso soup, a salad (it has peppers on it, so next time will ask to remove those , and white rice which I upgraded to a delicious (and generous portion of garlic friedrice. I picked two different steaks and a pork to cook and enjoy at the table. They all tasted great even without the sauceoptions you can add at the table which include sweet soy, ponzu, and spicy. I liked the first two sauces, not a fan of anything spicy anyway. I wish I lived in Chicago so I could enjoy this restaurant more! (Was just in town to see the awesome band TheWarning at the Bottom Lounge on the back side of the same block. If I return to Chicago, would definitely repeat visit! Ask forBarbara, she took good care of this patron.
I went for the lunch because their lunch menu is way cheaper and it comes with two meat options, miso soup, salad, and a large bowl of rice for $13.99. I was satisfied with the amount I was given. The meat quality was good. I?m Korean, so I was basing myexperience at Gyu-Kaku with kbbq. It?s very similar, but I felt like there wasn?t anything special or different with the meats.Kbbq is marinated in a sweat way, so it?s unique, but Jbbq seemed plain. You do get 3 sauces to dip the meat. I enjoyed my mealand I think it?s worth checking out, especially for their lunch menu!
New favorite restaurant!! The service was great, our server was so kind and polite. (He even gave me a free dessert because it was my birthday! I got green tea icecream soooo tasty) The entire lunch was delicious and the timing in which everything wasbrought out was perfect. So many meats to choose from and every one I tried was mouth watering and made you want more and more.No disappointment at all, definitely reccomend and definitely will be coming back.
