really happy that the kitchen is open until 11 so we were able to have an incredible late dinner. every single dish is well thought out and delicious. mint on several things, which worked perfectly. and the cocktails are well curated.we sat at the bar and it was mostly private. there was one of the bar staff who had several friends coming to hang out at the bar as well, one being a very loud and intoxicated woman. bu... What Scott Lasher doesn't like about Chef's Special Cocktail:
This isn’t a fun review to write, we’ve been fans of Chef’s Special for years, but after giving it two chances this week, I can’t help but vocalize my disappointment on how Chef’s Special’s food quality has declined. The orange chicken was overcooked, the Kung Pao Chicken would’ve been more aptly named Kung Pao Peppers, and the Crab Rangoon was barely filled. Awesome restaurant. Simple menu but everything is a banger. Loved the wontons, potstickers, and Dan Dan noodles. Inviting and fun vibe inside, too. Great cocktails. Another gem in the rotation of restaurants in Logan Square.
Really happy that the kitchen is open until 11 so we were able to have an incredible late dinner. every single dish is well thought out and delicious. mint on several things, which worked perfectly. and the cocktails are well curated.we sat at the bar and it was mostly private. there was one of the bar staff who had several friends coming to hang out at the bar as well, one being a very loud and intoxicated woman. but the environment otherwise was chill, nice lighting.the duck fried rice was well thought out and much lighter than you would think. but our favorite was the hand pulled noodles with beef. we will certainly be back.
Started with a lemongrass gin cocktail which was sublime. Wontons in chili were so hard to chopstick but managed lol. Kung Pao beef was perfectly spicy and topped it all off with a Hamm's and a shot special.
Really cute place, very attentive staff (super accommodating to allergies/ food restrictions). Food and drinks were very good and cheap for what it is. I heard it's the sister restaurant of Giant which checks out.Not pictured the eggplant with spicy lamb and the sweet and sour shrimp were really good!!Don’t miss the dry chili chicken, Dan Dan noodles, and mini skirt drink
