Had a beautiful afternoon tea with my husband and toddler, fresh and tasty! Recommended as a treat! They also do breakfast, lunch and specials and the menu is great if you don't want the afternoon tea but I do rate it highly. Very accommodating for kids. What BronwenS doesn't like about Poynton Tea Room:
Unfortunately, I have to disagree with other ratings. We went for a girly lunch, both choosing the pea and ham soup...unfortunately what we were served with was a glutinous deep green bowl of something which tasted of very sweet peas....and surprisingly mint. I excavated mine and though there were slimy tendrils of something, possibly string, there was no hint of ham. (A possible trades description or food hygiene ma... View all feedback.
I had corned beef hash with red cabbage and fresh buttered crusty bread, utterly Devine . My Aunty enjoyed the very popular cheese pie with baked beans.we washed this down with twinnings fennel tea and mocha. Full tums unfortunately no space for any of the delightful homemade cakes
I visited with my mum at the weekend. We'd previously ordered an afternoon tea to be delivered to my in-laws which they'd really enjoyed. We both had a sandwich which was good and freshly made. It was all a bit spoiled though by the lady in charge who was audibly and constantly criticising the two younger ladies working there. It may be that it had been a very busy morning and everyone was tired, or they may have made mistakes, but going on and on at them in full hearing of customers there to enjoy lunch doesn't feel like the right way to fix things. People willing to work in hospitality are hard to find these days and it would be a real shame to lose those who are willing and give a ready smile to the customers even when in trouble.
Helen and the wonderful team at Poynton Tea Room are always so helpful and welcoming. We visited today and I had the Leek Potato soup and my brother had the Pea Ham, both home made and very tasty indeed! The team have catered for both my family and business events including a private hire for my baby shower, nothing is ever too much trouble for Helen and the team! I can highly recommend the Lemon Roulade too
Welsh Rarebit with poached egg was delicious Service was friendly efficient. Highly recommend. Will definitely be back.

I excavated mine and though there were slimy tendrils of something, possibly string, there was no hint of ham. (A possible trades description or food hygiene matter). So when I advised it was not to my taste, I was told it was delicious, by a truly uneducated palate. The unapologetic cook, then proceeded to be exceptionally rude to my friend. Because she had made a throwaway remark....and then proceeded to ban us. Well I burst out laughing, as if we would ever go to such a ghastly place, with ghastly food.
