Contribute FeedbackCafé Rouge, a French-inspired chain, offers a varied dining experience in central Cheltenham. Guests enjoy a vibrant atmosphere, ideal for casual gatherings, particularly during the festive season. While starters and desserts received praise, mains often left diners wanting more. Service varies; some experienced attentive staff, while others felt neglected as the meal progressed. Although touted for its pleasant ambiance and tasty dishes like the Demi Poulet and French Onion soup, there are concerns about pricing and portion sizes. Overall, Café Rouge remains a convenient meeting spot, but diners should manage expectations regarding food consistency and service.
I was very disappointed with my meal last Saturday lunchtime. I usually order boeuf bourginone and meat lovely tender and lean. This time there was an awful lot of fat which was very off putting and spoilt my meal. I mentioned this to our waitress at the time who didn't appear bothered at all that we were not happy. Will be a while before I visit the cheltenham branch again.
Service was good and eating was ok, but not specifically for the question price
We had a pleasant meal. I was annoyed, however, that I could not use a 25% voucher that I had given in a previous meal in the cafe rouge in newcastle. I actually just came out of the reason to use this voucher, so there was a bad feeling that was really stupid becuase I now will not be in such a hurry to return if I had been to return, the discount had allowed because there was no complaining. I feel very short, and the restaurator would be better not to give any voucer as it can, as in this case, have a completely negative effect. they told me I could come back and use it at another time, I pulled it up and left it on the table!
Dreadful host, waiting workers did their best, bout eat really gate.
We used to dine at this restaurant frequently and enjoyed the great food, child-friendly environment, quick and friendly staff, and good value. However, during our recent visit on Mother's Day, my wife arrived before me and struggled to get a pram through the door while the manager watched without offering assistance. When we tried to order, we were informed that half of the menu items were already sold out. My wife's filet steak arrived overcooked despite ordering it medium, and when she brought this up to the server, they just shrugged it off. The service was slow and lacking attentiveness throughout the meal. To top it off, we found errors on the bill before payment, adding to our disappointment. It seems like there may have been a change in management leading to a decline in the quality of both the service and food. Overall, our experience left us feeling let down and we won't be returning in the future. It's disheartening to see a once great restaurant go downhill, especially on a special occasion.
