The restaurant has such a charm to it. It's not a fancy restaurant. It's pretty casual but it's nice to be in. The food. Here is phenomenal! It is delicious. I come just for a steak and a sack and I have never been disappointed ever. The last time that I came here. Everyone in there was so nice and helpful. I love here View all feedback.
What William Mabry doesn't like about Ankar's Hoagies:
Good grief, after moving away for a couple of years, I was back in Chattanooga yesterday 1/9/24. What a total disappointment, ordering two steak in a Jack's, I couldn't believe what we got, the pita bread was falling apart and the meat was junk. The onion rings barely were cooked. Wow, new ownership has ruined a Chattanooga icon. What a shame! View all feedback.

The best thing about eating at Ankars is being welcomed by the Welcoming Committee at the table to the left of the entrance.
This AWESOME FOOD HIGHLY SUGGESTED. Great Place to eat
We used to eat here 30 years ago when I was a kid and play the Addams Family pinball game. We went a few weeks ago for the sake of nostalgia, expecting to be disappointed as these experiences usually are. But the food was even better than I remembered. We ordered the onion rings, falafels, fries, and chicken fingers. All amazing. The people were so friendly and it was just like coming home. The only disappointment was the Addams Family pinball game is no longer there, but they do have a few pretty cool replacements the kids enjoyed.
My last review was deleted maybe this will be too. We were here coming from out of town. This place is not welcoming unfriendly. The short Caucasian lady with bangs brown bob length hair that works there. I guess as a watcher. Has no personality shouldn't be in the restaurant business. Her attitude was arrogant of unpleasant. Her facial expression mannerisms spoke volumes. No manners in helping a elderly patron leave. Nor did she thank the lady for her business. She just was leaning on the counter frowned up. I wonder the history of this place. They can only still be open for nostalgia purposes ONLY. Needless to say my spouse got sick from the food there. And I'm not surprised. The sign on the door should read WHITES ONLY PIES.
