With all the other really good restaurants in this area that have closed down due to the pandemic it's good to see that Mert's has survived. It's not surprising though because their food is really good and it is very well seasoned. Huge variety. View all feedback.
What Betsy Muller doesn't like about Mert's Heart & Soul:
The host told us it would be a 30 min wait for a table, which was fine... He told the next party that arrived an hour because they were a party of 12. But he seated them before us!? Can't help but think this was a race thing! The food was absolutely amazing though. Can't say we would go back though. View all feedback.
So as you can see, I had the salmon cakes, Mac, yams and seasoned rice with cornbread… the cornbread was great… that is all.. ?Was my first time eating here and was also my last… I should’ve gotten the Chinese food across the street ?..oh and the Arnold Palmer aka “Tiger Woods” ?? no sweetness what so ever.. a ? of $20

I eat at Mert’s every time I come to Charlotte. I sometimes consider driving an hour and a half just to eat; it would be worth it. I never have trouble getting a table. Walking distance from spectrum center.
Lunch spot in the middle of downtown, the top hits were the cornbread and the fried catfish I tried the soul rolls that everyone raves about. They were good, but I can’t say mine was mind blowing as I keep hearing about. Prices were adequate, however communication between the servers and staff was very low, we had plates when didn’t need them, and then all them were gone when we did need them. Overall would again if I’m in the area.
The ambiance is very nice, feels like home and everyone is very kind. For appetizers we got the salmon patties, green fried tomatoes, and egg rolls and they were ok. The appetizers are very small potions but the entre made up for that. I got the blackened pork chops and they were very bland, not much if any flavor. But luckily everyone at our table got something different so I got to try other things. Now that Iv tried a enough to know what's really good to me I would highly recommend the fried chicken, mac and cheese and collard greens. The cornbread alone deserves 5stars. For dessert we got the sweet potato cake and it was good but I going for the lemon cake next time. Overall good experience.
