While recent visits have highlighted inconsistencies—ranging from delayed service to a dip in food quality—the establishment shows signs of improvement, with fresh, flavorful dishes and attentive staff rejuvenating its reputation. Generous portions and a welcoming atmosphere, marked by friendly employees like Larissa, enhance the charm. Guests appreciate the vibrant ambiance, complete with occasional live music and a covered terrace. Despite some diners' frustrations over unpredictable hours and occasional burnt offerings, the restaurant retains its status as a quality stop for travelers and locals alike.
I must say this place has an enormous improvement compared to what is about 6-7 months ago. eating is actually at the table hot, fresh and tasty. and there are many new employees who are amazing in themselves. I'm glad this place turned around. please stop the good work. especially thanks to destiny and larissa for a great service.
Went there at 7:30 (They are supposed to be open until 9) and was told sorry they were closed because they were slow. This happens too often. They are slow because you never know when they are open. Food has gone down tremendously in the past 8 months or so as well!
Eating was good, not great, but definitiw the price worth. I ordered togo and honestly, it won't do again, because it would have been much better if I had eaten it fresh. the burgers are nice big, good taste, but my was a bit dry, I'm gonna criticize how long it says in the window before I finally had to ask if it was my order. the chili was spicy, but they could taste more tomato than anything else. the biggest interruption of this caffe is the waiting personal, very attentive, especially when they say it is to go. I understand that they may not type or big tips off togo, but they are in a truck stop and I'm sure this is a big part of their business.
Cafeteria food at best. Charged 9.00 for a small burnt grilled cheese. I had a group order and none of them were good. Fried Shrimps look like they were from a box you get at Walmart. The soup was halfway full and bland. If I could give zero stars I would. And what is with the inflation charge? 7 orders that was over 100.00 but we got cafeteria food. Food trucks on the side of the road have way better food than this slop. Very disappointing especially since it looks nothing like the menu. We feel cheated that we got this subpar food that not only took forever but was bland and terrible.
This is an island of quality in channelview. and it is one of the best truck stop restaurants that you will find. texas is also an idea close to my heart, so I hoped for the best when I tried. larissa greeted me at the door and I found a place close to one of the two people tables. I have to admit to being a little cloby my whole life, that's smashed on the table. the special today was big fish, which is two beautiful pieces of fish and cole Slav. I had added my Cajun style black and a side of red beans and rice. everything was delicious. service was quick and friendly and she checked me from time to time. it is clean and beautiful there with a texas independence vibe, another thema I like. they have a covered terrace and advertise live music. and if they need fuel or something from the convenience store, it's all next door. I loved it! I'm going back.
