Contribute FeedbackThe Hometown Buffet in Cerritos has made some upgrades recently. They now feature a self-serve drink bar with two computerized stations resembling large vending machines, offering Icees and various sodas. While the idea of unlimited Icees is appealing, it comes at a cost—around $3.99 for unlimited drink access, or you can just stick to water. Another notable addition is the condiment station, which I found to be a significant improvement since most people appreciate the ability to customize their food. The restaurant offers both booth and table seating, as well as a semi-private dining area. There’s a designated salad and soup section, and the buffet typically includes dishes like macaroni and cheese, spaghetti, garlic bread, tacos, fish, cornbread, enchiladas, mashed potatoes, corn, and more. For dessert, you'll usually find brownies, cookies, rice Krispy treats, pies, and self-serve ice cream. At Hometown Buffet, you pay before sitting down. You must place your receipt or card on the table to let the staff know you're dining (it indicates whether you’re still eating or looking for food). Aside from the baby cockroach sighting, the restaurant appears relatively clean. I had a lovely waitress during my visit, and they also have staff walking around with platters of food samples, which is a nice touch. In the past, I’ve enjoyed their mozzarella sticks and cinnamon buns. The restaurant is almost always busy, especially on Sundays right after church. If you prefer to eat at home, they offer a to-go option where you can fill up a container with your chosen dishes and pay at the register. Given my experience, I would rate this place somewhere between two and three stars, mainly due to that baby cockroach incident.

While the idea of unlimited Icees is tempting, there's a catch – there’s a fee for this unlimited drink access, which I think is around $3.99, unless you choose to just get water.
