my wife and I were here for a long weekend. the rooms are nicely furnished, the bed was very comfortable, and the place was very clean and clean. certainly not the busiest place in the world, but that is not what we have ever wanted. a very slow and comfortable tempo. the people at the reception were more than happy to make sure we had what we needed. james and victoria in the bar and restaurant were great! we had th... What User doesn't like about Hillside Texas Bistro:
For a place only open 5 days out the week I expected better. My breakfast plate was super greasy. The potatoes were seasoned pretty good, but just don't expect my eggs to drip that much grease. My wife said the biscuits and gravy were ok nothing to special about them. Our server only visited us twice. Once to take our order and the other to deliver our food. No refill on my coffee, kinda glad for, and no checking up... View all feedback.
Dinner 9/7/22 The food and service in the restaurant are usually good (at least on weekends). I went this week and it is definitely not the same quality of service was much more mediocre. We?ve had bananas infused tea (which is usually offered on weekends), but when we ordered it during the week, the waitress was ashamed that they didn't and? She was less than happy when we asked her to ask the bartender. The bartender was pleasant and knew how to do it. The waitress, unfortunately, continues acidic service. Comments on Essen: best shrimp tacos and street mais! Yum!
We ate at the restaurant. Had the grilled cheese brisket sandwich and my honey had the burger. We both agreed that the housemade pickles were amazing. We also shared the deviled. Beautiful venue.
Beautiful view by the pool! Excellent service, cold drinks, and good food. Nathaniel did I great job taking care of us poolside! Highly recommended this place for a little get away.
Im an aircraft mechanic, and i travel a lot. I was dispatched to Hondo, Texas to work, and another employee booked us a room there. All i can say, is that it was the nicest, coziest, brilliantly decorated hotel ive stayed at in over 20 years. I thought I was at a spa just in the shower.... beautiful view from the back porch, amazing bed, beautiful decor, great coffee.......kudos to all the staff.....
This was a REALLY good value for money. You can't beat a hillside view for 150 dollars a night. We did not get to check out the spa (spent time doing other things) or the bistro (closed on the days we were there) but we did enjoy the cabanas by the poolside and there were plenty of places to sit. It's a 4 star for me because the water pressure in the shower was hard to utilize and I've had more comfortable sheets at other places. I would still HIGHLY recommend this place if you are looking for a cheaper getaway!
