La Tienda - Carlitos

My favorite place to shop for groceries in Carlsbad New Mexico. Good parking. Excellent selections and well stocked. The place to go for any Mexican specialties. Very helpful staff. Excellent meat department. Get there before noon and you can pick up a couple of their excellent selection of they're freshly prepared burritos.

The good: Great selection of liquor, delicious baked goods.The bad: Painfully slow service at deli. Old meat and dairy products. Bought a quart of half and half and didn't check the bottle because half and half is generally good for one to two months. This one was one week from expiration. Won't be shopping for anything fresh here again, but I would choose it over Walmart.

Great food, great service, clean and friendly atmosphere.

I usually get tacos here for lunch. My wife and I love them because they are not greasy. Made to order while you wait for them. Of course the shell is pre-made, as are the rest of the ingredients which make for a fast turnaround time. This time I went to get nopales and corn chips. I ended up skipping the nopales because they were old and had dark spots on them. So I only got the chips.

I enjoyed shopping here for some of our grocery needs. They have comparable prices on their products and a nice selection of goods. The fresh tortillas were delicious! I always found the best deals on fresh meat, bakery goods, and produce at La Tienda.
