La Baguette - Carlisle

We had be wanting a festive baguette for a little while now and last week we went to a well Known local butchers chain and got one we were very very disappointed so much that we said we need to have a trip to Carlisle and get a proper one ! So today’s our day off we and as promised we had the best festive baguette ! Loads of turkey, plenty of stuffing And boy what a stuffing it is I’d buy it for Xmas dinner not a paxo box in sight, 3 pigs in blankets and a pot of real gravy to dip your baguette in utter heaven! Lovely staff and service too

Funny how it operates next door to subway, but I'd choose this one out of the two every time. Had chicken and mango chutney, fresh and tasty

Needed a quick basic cheap lunch to refuel between shopping trip. Plenty of choice sandwiches baguettes panninis baked potatoes etc and hot and cold drinks. We had baguettes with cheese and ham, coronation chicken and chicken tika. Very generous with the fillings and also get a choice of salad for fillings. Very reasonable price and fast friendly service with seats outside to watch the world go by.

I had a ‘tuna jacket potato with salad’ for £4.50 But what I got was a ‘carton of mayonnaise sprinkled with tuna flakes and lettuce dolloped over a small hard cold potato’ My colleagues all gathered around to watch me eat the monstrosity as though it was a bush tucker trial. I ate about 1/5th (through hunger) and chucked the rest in the bin. Other sandwich bars in Carlisle charge £2.70 for a tuna jacket with salad and they are so much better. Also a side note- the server had blue gloves on for hygiene reasons but she was handling coins and stroking her hair so that’s a bit rank.

The baguette was dry and lacked filling, resulting in a tasteless experience. We ended up throwing it away and went to another place for food.
