Great local pub with a chef that cooks the most amazing steak! Tell Sammy how you want your steak and that’s what you get! Staff are attentive, polite and welcoming.

My partner and friends took me to the Lord Stanley Hotel for a birthday dinner. What a treat. It’s a pub with a very clever and obliging chef. He told us we may have a little wait for our dinner so presented us with complimentary garlic bread. Two steak meals, cooked absolutely to order, grilled salmon ditto and the biggest steak sandwich I’ve ever seen, were so good, the plates were soon clean. The wine/beer list wasn’t extensive but plenty of choices, and along with our meal at very reasonable prices. I’m looking forward to going back again soon.

My brother’s new local for a birthday dinner. Greeted by a friendly chatty barkeep, took his suggestion for my drink and grabbed a beer. We took a table outside, it was a very quiet night, only one other couple dining. Ordered our meals at the bar, made an offhand comment about no sauce on a steak. Went back to my table. When the very friendly waitress delivered our food, she referenced my comment, much to my delight! A joke at my brothers expense! I had the schnitty a homemade large fillet be prepared! No wafer thin bulk produced schnitty at this place. Bacon and beetroot jam yum! Would totally recommend for a casual pub dinner.

After many years since my last visit and my recent move into the area I visited tonight and both selected a 250 g Rump medium rare. The steaks appeared somewhat small but that was fine. Boy came medium well. The service behind the bar was rather unfriendly and in general a lack of friendliness and little engagement or interest from the staff. The male bathroom had very strong and offensive urine stink. All in all the Stanley needs to lift its game and Management presence on the floor is necessary to make it happen.
