What User doesn't like about The Orient:
I never anticipated having such a negative experience at a restaurant. My family ordered four different meals, and none of us enjoyed our food. All I can say is that this place was terrible. View all feedback.
Horrible, horrible! I 've eaten a lot of Chinese food in my life but nothing quite this bad. I figured I 'd try a new place, that was a bad idea. Food is WAY overcooked and pretty much tasteless. Portion sizes are small compared to cost of a similar establishment. I ordered on a third-party app so I can 't comment about the service but let 's get into the food. The Fried rice is just that, there 's no pork in it at all and no flavor unless you douse it in soy sauce. I ordered sweet and sour chicken, the breaded chicken looked like it died 2 weeks ago and was shriveled and overcooked and the breading was thin not a hint of crunch. The sweet sour sauce was just barely edible as well. The last thing was the beef teriyaki, I don 't know who 's preparing it but I got a huge chunk of fat on one of the sticks, that NEVER happens and I 've never had it happen on such a thin cut of meat. Bottom line, save your taste buds and money and eat somewhere else.
I gave only 4 stars for food because it's not really what I'm used to eating Chinese. I am from the north and have been looking for a Chinese Detroit-style restaurant serving almond chicken and also egg rolls with bean sputs instead of cabbage. The food was good and the cook did it just as I asked.
First I live right behind the Orient, so I eat almost every week there. I never had a court I didn't enjoy. All staff are friendly and sometimes chatty (in a good way). I'm going back, maybe tomorrow. Update: I could not know how true this is, but I was new in the area when I first published and since then heard of many people working in an adjacent facility in the same building that The Orient has great cleanliness (and therefore, roach) problem. I haven't eaten for almost a year.
After hearing a good review on Facebook we decided to place an order. Chicken chow mein, sesame chicken, sweet and sour chicken all with fried rice and egg rolls. After delivery from GrubHub it was over $60. Their price was 41 approximately. The sweet and sour was not sweet or sour it was just like a thick barbecue type sauce and the chicken was very tough, the chicken chow mein had sliced mushrooms in it and everything tasted burnt. The sesame chicken was tough dry and the fried rice tasted terrible, the only thing that was even remotely edible were the egg rolls and they weren't anywhere near as good as where we normally get them from. I would not recommend this place to anyone. I literally threw away all of the food after everyone took one or two bites.
I wish I could give 0 stars. I used to order from here early 2000's and the food was GREAT! I LEFT Cape Coral and returned a year ago and boy what a disappointment my order yesterday was. Cold food, over fried Crab Rangoons to the loins the flour was brown. House Special Fried Rice had old rice mixed with fresh rice and was all clumped up as when rice is scorched. Horrible experience, my husband went to pick up our order and said the place inside is disgusting and if would have seen before would have NEVER ate from here. What a disappointment!
