Bouyed by the reports of others expectations were high. The service was good in parts ,attentive but then not around. The setting is fine but sadly the food did not come upto expectations-not bad but not at the level the previous reviews had suggested. Surprisingly for a sushi restaurant the prices were reasonable. What Rona H doesn't like about Mister Miyagi:
Sushi is my granddaughter's favourite food so this was her Christmas treat as she is too old for Santa. She enjoyed the food very much, the waitress was charming, and my rice was perfectly sticky. Also the citrus tea was great. However, we had to eat with our coats on as it was too cold to remove them. That is why the score is not high. My next visit will be in Summer. View all feedback.
Omg, Latino hotdog is unreal and affogatto is to die for. Great service, super friendly staff. Awesome place.
We’ve been coming to Qwan since he had his small restaurant at the other end of town. The sushi is always so fresh and tasty and the Qwan is always so accommodating. We’ve been to numerous sushi places over the years in London, Kent and Uae and mister miyagis tops others every time! It’s so lovely to see the mister miyagis grow and the new restaurant is beautiful perfect atmosphere paired with the best sushi what more could you want? A MUST when visiting Canterbury or kent even! I ordered sushi for collection for my family as was going to be in Canterbury. The staff were friendly and helpful and the sushi was absolutely fantastic. We will definitely be back.
It is wonderful to see that the business has expanded from its former tiny cafe/bar style premises so that Mr Miyagi now accommodates table dining. Not knowing about the move, I happened across their new restaurant (close to the Cathedral entrance) after walking to the old premises and finding that it had closed down this is my first time in Canterbury since before Lockdown One. I have been eating at Mr Miyagi's for some years (but only get to go their when I happen to be visiting Canterbury) and the food is, and always has been, excellent the best I have had in the UK. And given the quality of the food, the value is astonishing compared to the prices a well known sushi chain charges for their mediocre offerings. The menu offering is deliberately limited to sushi/sashimi/nigiri and a few teriyaki and ramen dishes, with everything hand prepared on site on the day or to order. There is no flashy conveyor belt, just a simple clean setting, with attentive service and Mr Miyagi himself on hand ready and willing to offer assistance when selecting from the menu. If you have not tried Japanese cuisine before, particularly sushi/sashimi/nigiri, this is the place to start.
I came here for lunch and was amazed. The food tastes amazing and the customer service is wonderful. The restaurant is clean and have a nice, calm atmosphere. Will definitely be coming back!!!
