What User doesn't like about La Joya:
Restaurant did not live up to hype in my opinion but I have eaten at 4 and 5 star Michelin restaurants with celebrity chefs including Husk in Charleston so my standards may be a little high. Wine selcetion was dissappointing, cheap US grocery store wine at premium price. They need Sommelier and world class wine selection and some premium Bourbon to support quality of service. Overall good, but 3 diamond at best. View all feedback.
The view of the ocean from this restaurant is stunning. A cool breeze blows and you can smell the sea air. It was a highlight of dining experiences. The food was ok. Basic fresh fish choices. The dancers were incredible.
Best place at the resort for a meal! We ate there twice and sat close to the edge and had a great view of the water! I especially loved the grilled fish I had for dinner; our waiters Roberto and Jesus were so wonderful. I didn't want the sauce the fish came with and asked for pico de gallo, he said they didn't usually have it during dinner but would check. When he brought the fish it came with a nice size cup of pico for my fish. The serves all went the extra mile!
The roast beef tacos were delicious and out server Frank took very good care of us. The daquiris was amazing as well.
Isla Contoy is interesting... they have everything from fresh ceviche and aguachile to steak and potato. It's open air, overlooking the ocean, and very casual. Service is very attentive. Just the place for a cold beer and sandwich for lunch.
