In Cambridge for business and staying in hotel nearby, so decided to give this place a try. Glad I did, vast menu. Tool more time to decide than it took for them to deliver it to our table. Portion was outstanding. Ordered a shrimp cashew veggie mix with czechuan and it was amazing. Had at least a dozen large size shrimp and lots of veggies and cashews. Excellent spot. What Jason Bednar doesn't like about Ben Thanh Viet-Thai Restaurant:
I visited this restaurant a few years ago when I visited my sister in Canada and loved food and friendly service. What happened?! The service is practically not existent and, while we have agreed to it, given the challenges Covid presented, there are no...excuses for food. It has absolutely no relation to Thai food. Our pad Thai was a great soggy mess of noodles sown in a cheap tomato sauce. It was as far as possible... View all feedback.
We picked up some thai food here for lunch to eat at home. So i'll start by saying I was in Thailand last December, and now, have a high standard maybe- but not one that hasn't been met in Canada or the U.S. You can still get good thai food outside of thailand. I did not find however, that Ben Thanh had this. While we were a group of 5 girls, everyone seemed to love the food but me. The only things that were really good were the samosa's and thai spring rolls.
The soup noodles dishes were nice, but BBQ meat dishes with meat a bit tough and dry. Drinks are good, but the provided tea tasted kind of salty.
We went here for lunch with our son, and we all enjoyed. We tried a variety of things, and all were good. mango salad, and 3 varieties of spring rolls. I had a small bowl of the pho , which was the only thing that I didn't really think was very good, I have had better elsewhere. My son had the vermicelli bowl, which he said he always gets, looked really good. Decent service, and the prices were good. The bill for all of us was $65 , and we had a lot of food for that. Would definitely return.
Very extensive selection of foods both Vietnamese and Thai. Everyone at our table of 4 really enjoyed the choices. Sweet and Sour prawns, mango salads were exceptional. Busy and good service.
This was the first time we went there and it will be the last. Yes we we greeted very quickly at the door, but we were given three different menu's and with a menu selection sheet and pencil. It took 5 mins for a "waitress" to come to our table, she brought tea. Okay. I told her that it was our first time to come and she quickly went over the menu then got our wine. We were still confused by the menu's so we went with a dinner for 2. Which was a Green Mango Salad, Beef (something) and Chicken (stirfry) served with rice. All of the dishes were run of the Mill offerings. Service was much to be desired! The Salad was brought on a plate with no serving fork. Then about 15 mins well after we had finished the salad, our main dishes where brought out without our dirty dishes being removed. That is one thing that really irks me, is when dirty dishes are still on the table when an new course is brought to the table.I don't know if it was the time of day (4:00 pm) that was the problem or what? There was a lot of take out meals being picked up at the time. If you are going to have a dining room, there should be consistence service standards.
