My friends recommended Thanh Am for a special meal and what a fantastic experience it was. The restaurant was incredibly welcoming and the staff were outstanding; very helpful and friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed our dishes; delicious and beautifully presented, providing a wonderful escape from the holiday rush. We will definitely be returning when we are next in Cambridge. I had high expectations for this restaurant, with its stunning facade, positive reviews, and my personal love for Vietnamese cuisine. However, my overall experience was a bit mixed. The majority of the seating was in a dimly lit cellar, with uncomfortable chairs and plastic plants that gave the place an old-school Asian vibe. Food was really delicious and great service, friendly, knowledgeable and fast
We enjoy the flavour of all the food, it is very authentic and they display the food very elegantly but the portion was little and its much more expensive. My husband left not feeling full. I got the Vietnamese coffee and it wasn't what I expected, it didn't taste like it was filter at all... almost like it was instant coffee. I am a Vietnamese person who drinks this very often. The staff was welcoming and were very friendly. The atmosphere on the top floor is amazing with all the plants, the painting and decor if you like high ceiling, bright and airy space.

Food was brilliant. The atmosphere is lovely with all the plants although it is a little cramped in the top space sitting underneath the large plants. Staff were lovely but attention to detail was missing. Just little things like not giving us the right number of water glasses, not giving a spoon with a dessert etc.
Overall, close to Cambridge University. The price is 50% more expensive than ordinary restaurants, the quantity of dishes is 50% smaller, plus a 10% service charge. Just three dishes for 70 pounds. Not recommended
