Muku serves great Ramen, but they also have some very unique and quite tasty appetizers. Everything is done well and served hot. Service is quick and attentive. My favourite is the Tonkontsu ramen, but there are other options as well. You can also add side items to your ramen for very little cost. This restaurant also serves Japanese beers and hot sake, which goes well with the ramen. Favourite desert is the green te... View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Muku Japanese Ramen:
My wife and I just had the Spicy Tonkotsu Chasu there. By spicy they mean the ramen with a little splash of hot sauce on top, the broth tasted very good but was way too greasy for my liking (and a tad too salty). The pork slices were just passable, a little dry and with no trace of the characteristic caramelized colour of Char Siu around the edges. I also found the lack of vegetables (only green onions and a single b... View all feedback.
I absolutely love Muku. I have been going here for almost 10 years. Excellent ramen, wonderful customer service, reasonable prices. One of my favourite restaurants.
The fact they do half orders in this economy and you still get a good portion of food for what you pay for is honestly refreshing. They've easily turned me into a regular! Plus the Ramen is excellent :
I’ve been to muku many many times, and at one point i would say it was my favourite ramen place in calgary. i’ve had ramen in japan, so the standards are quite high!however, the past few times i’ve been here it seems the quality of the food has gone down a bit?at muku, i usually get the exact same thing everytime (half order tonkatsu with sukiyaki rice combo), but maybe i need to try a different base next time?i remember in the past, the sukiyaki beef was so moist and oozing with flavour, i would literally save it for last cause it was that good but it seems it’s just not the same now sadly! it’s more dry now. i also added a tamago egg to my ramen it was not runny and almost fully boiled :(the char siew has always been quite dry imo. never been a big fan of it here. i prefer the wonton.we also had the agedashi tofu as an appetizer and it was tasty. i would try more appetizers for sure.i do like the pricing and portions. it’s very fair usually i struggle to finish a normal sized ramen, but the half size combo is perfect for me! i wish they would offer this option at more ramen places!i believe they don’t split the bill if you’re coming with others (not sure if they’ve changed this), so be aware of this or plan accordingly!overall there aren’t really amazing ramen options in calgary, but if you’re having a craving i’d still give this place a try it is still one of the better places here
Not my favourite ramen and I’ve tried them twice. The tonkotsu broth tastes underwhelming compared to competitors and I am not a fan of the chashu as it tasted under seasoned. I also prefer fatty chashu so having one very thin slice of lean meat and one slice of fatty pork feels like less value. Indoors is very hot in the summer and uncomfortable for a dining experience. The wonton ramen was unique and I enjoyed the wontons, but not the ramen dish as a whole. It’s fine, but I would choose to go somewhere else for ramen… to each their own.
Amazing ramen experience in Calgary!!Nice and friendly service!
