Carvalho's Bar Restaurant - Calangute

Probably the cheapest food joint in entire North Goa and hands down one of the best. Food in Goa is NOT cheap. A lunch or dinner for two at any given place will start from INR 1000 and can go up to INR 2000, depending on the place.<br/ <br/ It is here that I had the Balchao, Xacuti, Cafreal the famous Recheado items. These curry items are all made from indigenous goan spices. Ranging from mildy hot, to too hot, these frangrant spices are heavenly and will leave your taste buds wanting more.<br/ <br/ A perfect lunch is the Goan Thali. Or you can just opt for a Xacuti or Balchao. Be warned, it is enough for 2 people and is best enjoyed with steamed rice.<br/ <br/ Lunch/Dinner at Carvalho's (in Calangute) cost me INR 500 or below for 2 people (including double servings of drinks). So compared to other places, this was quite cheap and there was no compromise with the taste.

This place easily draws your attention as being located in the middle of the charming streets of calangute market and at a walkable distance from calangute beach. From my observations, it 's one of the most likeable place enjoyed by many locals as well as the foreigners. The outlet gets busy at some times especially during evenings, but nevermind they have all covered.<br/ __________________________________________________<br/ <br/ The restaurant is very well ventilated as its open from sides with a lot of space for sunlight and freah air to reach in. Classic wooden chairs, tables, high chairs and ledges to keep your drink and food dishes. The service is pretty cool. The drinks don 't take anytime to serve while food takes a little while to prepare. Overall pretty decent.<br/ __________________________________________________<br/ <br/ They offer some delicious and comfort food which are full of flavors from Indian and Chinese to Italian and Goan and tasty bar nibbles as well, but don 't get carried away by that! They also have some great range of beverages to grab on. The main highlight is that, they offer super cheap pints of chilled beers at an never found deal of Rs. 50 per pint! Shocked right?? So what are you waiting for you all beer lovers?? Grab a chilled pint of yours and enjoy to the fullest. We certainly ordered our very own classics- Tandoori Chicken, Lollipops and Schezwan Lollipops. Carvalho's at Calangute gives you the Charm of the Goa vibes all in one package!<br/ <br/ This bar is placed right on the street to the bliss of Calangute beach and will surely draw your attention with Chill ambience and Cheap beer they serve as a deal! It is favourite to both the foreigners and the locals to relax with their drinks and finger licking food both during the day as well through the night.<br/ <br/ The best stars were our appetizers ordered her;<br/ Chicken Tandoori, Schezwan and regular Chicken Lollipops<br/ Along with super cheap pints of chilled beer at an never found deal of Rs. 50 per pint! This place is small and cozy and gets you relaxed..Its value for money!We ordered the following along with our drinks:Chicken satay in peanut sauce- this dish melts in your mouth..the chicken is soft and so easy to break..they serve this with peanut sauce which is bang on and both blend well!Pomfret fry- the fish was fresh and soft..they give you fries and salad along with it which is a decent amount of foodChicken pasta in white sauce-yummy dish..the sauce was bang on..along with a nice mix of pasta and chickenFries-normal french friesMilshakes-chocolate and mango(this is the only thing I wouldn't recommend)

Its a nice small place to hangout with friends. Staff is very friendly and atmosphere is very cool. Little congested space but very much pocket friendly. I had drinks, chilly chicken and butter chicken.Chilly chicken was average but butter chicken was one of the best I had in some time. Its a must try.Will surely visit again whenever I visit Goa again. : :
