We came in for lunch and had the chance to spot a free table outside (not easy, Cabourg being crowded on a sunny Sunday) and sat down. A waitress was prompt by our side and very friendly, we decided on a terre mer' starters...plate, a fish-casserole and gambas. The menu is not very long but there is enough to choose from. The starters were nice, with salmon and tuna rillettes (paté, for lack of a better word), and as... View all feedback.
What Antonie Pape doesn't like about Casserole et bouchons:
We wanted to have dinner and as our hotel had recommended this restaurant the previous evening we decided to give it a go. The decor is ultra modern with grey suede walls and lots of bright pink. My husband ordered the fois gras starter which he was convinced was out of a tin. We both had beef casserole for mains. A saucepan full of gravy with very large chunks of beef. Don't heavy on the entrees, the casseroles are tremendous! Great Normandy food! C'est tout! I don't think they have many desserts ordered.
Very busy so staff were rushed however very genourous portions of food and fish casserole was delicious. You
Very average food lacking in taste. Service was good and staff are helpful but you can get far better food elsewhere in Cabourg.
We ate here twice during our recent short break to Normandy.Initially we were put off by the pink/purple colour scheme that made the place look like a bar/night club but the Tripadvisor reviews persuaded us to try it!We were a family of 5 plus 2 dogs and the staff couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful. We do speak basic French but one member of staff speaks perfect English. The children's menu was excellent with big portions (we had to ask if my daughter's moules/frites was from the main menu as it was such a good size). The first time my husband and I both ate from the 3 course set menu which had a good variety of choice. The second time we had the 3 course casserole menu which included a choice of any of the casseroles from the main menu (we both had the veal in a mushroom, cream and cider sauce). Puddings were delicious.I would definitely recommend this restaurant and we will eat here again next time we are in Cabourg.
