We enjoyed the VIP "Winter Warmers" set menu with delicious beef cheeks, a wonderful duck Maryland and a selection of desserts. The food was spectacular, but the service was most disappointing and far below what we've come to know over the years of dining here.Admittedly, we were there at lunchtime on a sunny Friday, but did not feel at all welcome like we used to. Front of House needs some serious training, fast!Agai... View all feedback.
What Adam Urías doesn't like about Vela Dining & Bar:
We arrived at 12.00 for lunch for a table of four. The setting was beautiful and the food was excellent. We had entrees of mussels, calamari and pork belly followed by mains of Lemon sole, steak and duck which we loved, then dessert to finish. However the time taken to receive these meals was very disappointing. It took 2 hours and 20 minutes with us having to watch the clock and ask for desserts asap when they were... View all feedback.
A belated Valentine's Day lunch we decided to try Vela's which I looked up on my IPhone as we were driving in that general direction. Managed to book a table for two no trouble. They were busy however a couple of tables were free. Lovely setting, right on the wharf. Small restaurant with excellent staff and service. I love scallops and was happy to see them on the menu which I ordered and came with ginger and pumpkin soup. Partner loves his oysters and ordered 1 doz which he gave me two and they were delicious also. My main was the barramundi, skin crisp to a "t" and partner fillet of pork, also delicious. Desserts to die for. Chocolate pannacotta and lemon tart. Wonderful afternoon, the view was beautiful. dd. A lovely treat which I hope to experience again. There is also a kiosk for food without the price tag but no doubt equally delicious.

Been here for breakfast, lunch and dinner many times and it's as good if not better than the time previous. The setting and staff are great!!! The food is always delicious and though a little expensive the price is most definietly worth it, the portions are great size too!

However the time taken to receive these meals was very disappointing. It took 2 hours and 20 minutes with us having to watch the clock and ask for desserts asap when they were clearing the main meals. It is extremely noisy and the restaurant was not full. It is metered parking here and a lot of patrons were having to return to their cars to top up the parking meters due to the slow service.
We lived up the bay from this restuarant 16 years ago when it was called Sanders. Came back for a nostalgic visit. He setting is perfect with the wharf over the water and yhe fod was very very good. I had the prawns for an entre and the crab fettuccine dor a main which was very enjoyable. Entre was a little slow coming but with such a fantastic setting it was great to just sit with a glass of wine and enjoy the view. The staff ere very friendly and helpful. Overall a very pleasant lunch thoroughly recommended.
