Love Little Donkey! Definitely a great happy hour spot! Friendly bar and waitstaff. Dinner service is a little expensive, but the atmosphere is definitely more upscale than your typical family-owned Tex Mex place. Dietary restrictions: Celiac: I've always had great experiences here. Waitstaff was accommodating and double checked with kitchen staff to guarantee that a specific dish was gluten free when asked. View all feedback.
What Regina Calhoun doesn't like about Little Donkey Méxican Homewood:
I ordered burrito. Food was bland. No Mexican flavor. They also DO NOT HAVE LIVE MUSIC. Customer service and ambience on point. Parking: Parking limited on the street but free with an hour limit. View all feedback.

This food Look good but had no flavor or Seasoning. The best way to describe this meal is suburban Mexican.
The food was very good. They have several varities of tacos, I recommed the el pastor, beef brisket and fish. I recommend the brisket quesadilla. They have parking in back, full service bar.
Let's start at the end...our experience at the Little Donkey was not good from the start, and it did not get better as the night continued. We sat at the bar, while we waited for a table outside. No draft beer available...no carbon dioxide or nitrogen, I heard more than one reason (excuse) given. We realized that we had been overlooked for seating after seeing several other parties seated who arrived after us. A 30 minute wait was an hour! Server arrived promptly although I could not say the same for the chips and salsa ordered. I was happy to see that there were tamales on the menu, and very disappointed when they arrived room temperature and 90% dry, crumbly masa with the smallest amount of pork...the worst tamales I have ever had, without question. There is little to say that is redeeming about our dinner.
Didn't know what to expect, went here with a group from work. I was so impressed by the cocktail menu. I drink for flavor enjoyment and the Bushwhacker did not disappoint! For the queso with brisket, definitely different, a little on the sweet side but the cheese was quality. Salsa was on point, I even did my food dance. Ordered the fajitas, fresh shells!!!! Smokes Chicken was amazing, just fell apart with my fork.Service was great, we had a table of 22 and she handled with grace. Even the water was good.
