Lovely afternoon tea, fresh sandwiches and a nice selection, the cakes were lovely different varieties all lovely. The manager was very pleasant as were all the staff we came into contact with, although I think there needs some money ploughed into the building, little things like clean carpets and some chairs need recovering, and windows cleaned? The ladies toilet is up two flights of stairs and the door to the toile... View all feedback.
What fluffymonkey doesn't like about Grafton Manor:
Despite the grand looking house and warm welcome from the attentive staff we couldn't overlook the fact that we had an afternoon tea that was really nothing special to match the house and location. Chipped crockery, a dirty teapot, not really what you expect from such an establishment. Sandwiches were tasty but unadventurous and cake selection cut up into tiny pieces so more like a taster selection. It was adequate b... View all feedback.
I was bought a Groupon voucher for prosecco afternoon tea here and looked forward to it as had heard good things about Grafton Manor. To be fair to them, they let me book it days after my voucher expired which they didn't have to do but generally I wasn't overly impressed with the actual afternoon tea or grounds/decor of this manor house quite run down, cobwebs etc. There was only one girl working who looked rushed off her feet bless her, and it was only my mom and I in the dining area which made the atmosphere very ... quiet! The selection of food on the afternoon tea was very standard and nothing really special about it. I usually take bits home with me in a doggie bag but I didn't bother which says it all! I think they also played a christmas song in the background which I thought was weird...
I’ll start with a positive, the steak meal we had was very good and could not really fault. However this is such a lovely setting and the restaurant now seems an afterthought with weddings and parties taking precedent. On entering there was nobody to greet us.Inexperienced staff member then appeared and had no idea how to mix drinks.Second staff member gave us menus, did not as if we wanted starter, water on table, no bread..just all the basics you would expect. Finally they didn’t have any red wine suitable to go with steak....this was really astonishing! For goodness sake if you advertise a steak evening make sure you’ve got an adequate wine selection to go with it!We then finished off our drinks in the bar area which looks like it had been furnished from a charity shop. This could be an amazing place to eat but there are sadly so many things wrong.
An amazing family owned run venue which we used for my musical 50th birthday Planning easyPrice fair Atmosphere amazingLocation a hidden piece of countryside with bucket of parking.Event rooms iconicBedrooms incredible traditional feel but Seriously coolStaff so easy, friendly and accommodating Overall
The afternoon tea was very nice. However we sat in quite a dark room on a dry day. It was spoilt by people bringing in furniture in to the room next to us. Husband has just said isn’t it nice not having any children around when a baby with these people began crying
Food was delicious but do check for Groupon vouchers before you go, we didn't and paid a LOT more than the table next to us.
