My wife, our friend, and I tried out this restaurant for the first time tonight and we absolutely loved it! The restaurant was clean and stylish, the food was tasty and reasonably priced, and the drinks were affordable as well. Our waitress, Lauren, was incredibly kind and provided us with a great experience. I am thrilled that we decided to give this place a try and we will definitely be returning in the future. I o... What Unknown R doesn't like about Blockhouse Grill Pub:
The service at the restaurant was very polite! The atmosphere was very dimly lit. We started with the stuffed and fried mushrooms, which we found to be very tasty. However, my girlfriend's avocado BLT did not have any avocado in it. I opted for the fish and chips after reading positive reviews, and noticed on the menu that you could choose between chips or sweet potato fries. Even though I tried to switch to sweet po... Quiet, cool and deep atmosphere. Great for the kids and whole family and big little place to go, drink a few days! The bar is great and the food is so fresh and amazing. Just been here a few times and I really need to visit more because the staff and the overall quality is just the best bang for you Buck. It is worth coming from the mainstream BA crowd and enjoying yourself in a family owner bar and barbecue.
A laid back atmosphere feels like a local bar (without the smoke! We had the fried pickles appetizer well done and a large portion for the price. My friend really liked her grown up grilled cheese and I had the big burger. Cooked to perfection and the truffle potatoes were absolutely amazing. Service was a little slow but overall a great experience.
Stopped here to eat after driving bye several times and wish I had stopped earlier. Our lunch was very good. The staff was very friendly and attentive. We had the Scotch egg appetizer with the spicy honey mustard dip. The Burgerito with the apple wood bacon was awesome. We also liked the sweet potato fries and fried okra. We plan on returning very soon. Revised: Returned and ate inside this time. This may be my last time now! First off this was midday. There were 4 guys in the kitchen playing loud music, B S ing, and eating in plain view. No type of hair covering while preparing food. While we were eating one of them went into the restroom. When he came out with his hands all over the door went right back to work. If we do return it won't be anytime soon if at all.
We tried this place based on the photos found on Google and was surprised because the more upscale food and prices didn 't match the grill/pub. The building itself is a bit small and the AC air duct was dripping condensation on our table and on my husband. The grill/pub is definitely more of a small roadside bar. His ribeye steak was $39.99 but it was very thin, didn 't look much like a ribeye, and it wasn 't seasoned. The loaded baked potato and side salad were great though. We went on a Saturday and had live music to listen to which was a great experience! The catfish dinner was reasonably priced and delicious. The coleslaw was so good!! The french fries were good. Fried pickles were okay (a little salty and greasy). We also had a $16 BBQ sandwich with mashed potatoes that seemed way overpriced for the amount of food. Our waitress and staff were friendly and attentive. For the most part the quality of the food was good but not so much for the price. We would consider visiting again for a date night but not for another family dinner. Three entrees, a kid 's meal and an appetizer cost us $89 before the tip.
I've been trying to try this place for a while so I had high hopes. Maybe a little too high. The food was good but they are really proud of it. It's really kind of expensive for a bar. The steak was ok. The fish was greasy. The smoked pork brisket was ok but the menu clearly says it has smoked cheddar mine came without so I had to ask for it was told by the waitress it doesn't come with cheese... The chips could have been good but were not fresh, I kinda got the bottom of the bucket the waitress told me they were making more she would bring me fresh but never did. The **** Mary was heavy on the tobasco but good if you like that. The celery in my drink was not crisp the olives were mushy. Overall, I think it's a one and done. Too expensive for what you get.
