What Desh Govender doesn't like about De Vette Mossel Harties:
Mussels were tasty, snoek was a let down, bread was delicious, but seafood was disappointing. There was no atmosphere. Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch Price per person: R 300–350 Food: 3 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 1 Recommended dishes: Mussel Pot View all feedback.
We really enjoyed our experience at De Vette Mossel, but the absence of cutlery and crockery made it challenging to fully enjoy the meal. We weren't aware that it was a bring-your-own-everything-except-food setup.
This is the best option you’ll find for a fresh seafood-on-the-beach experience, even though it’s miles from the coast. The all-you-can-eat seafood is cooked to perfection. Just a tip: skip the bread, or you might fill up too quickly to enjoy all the seafood offerings. Bring your own drinks to enhance the experience!
We had an incredible time here! We arrived just in time for lunch, enjoying a remarkable 9-course all-you-can-eat seafood feast like we’ve never seen before! Everything was cooked over an open fire pit, including delicious pot-baked breads, mussels, prawns, and large cuts of fish, among other dishes. If it came from the sea, they had it! As travelers who didn’t speak Afrikaans, we appreciated that the owners took the time to sit with us, translating stories and sharing in the laughter. The ambiance is thoughtfully designed to evoke a beach experience, and the service from the friendly staff was absolutely fantastic!
I must say I'm really happy with my experience at De Vette Mossel. The place is amazing, the food was brilliant, the seafood pot was delicious as well as the mussels and snoek. It is really hot keep that in mind as it is in NW, and if you don't bring cutlery you will have to eet with mussel shell. I loved it and will definitely return.
A great outing for those good looong Sunday kuiers. Best enjoyed when someone else drives, so get an Uber and enjoy. <br/ <br/ Every dish of the 8 courses is delish! Just watch out for the bread. You end up eating too much brood en konfyt and as such, wont be fully able to enjoy all the speciality seafood that is served at the end. <br/ <br/ BYOB and remember the bottle opener. Or just bring screw top wine bottles. <br/ <br/ Being out and about in nature will, of course, bring bees, so for those allergic, bring relevant medication. <br/ <br/ Great warm spot for winter. Can even kick off your shoes and enjoy the beachsand.
