Second best burger joint in Brisbane CBD after the original Miel Container. Too much hype all the bad reviews. It's simple and high quality which is to be admired. Don't come here if you want a McMassive with all the trimmings. View all feedback.
What Buford Keebler doesn't like about Burger Project:
service was not so great, the cash register looked like she didn't even want to serve us. I expected this place to be more busy, but there are so many tables and no people. also the burgers were in order was not so great. should they go maccas View all feedback.
In response to incessant Fitbit guilting, I decided to eat another burger. A 'no bun magic mushroom' burger though, so it was totally (cough) healthy. What I was served was so not 'magic' it would have made a unicorn cry. The small confit mushroom turned out to be oily & bland. Couldn't get my head around the two plain slices of cheese - why oh why weren't they melted? The special sauce was overpoweringly sharp and there was way too much of it. Kinda glad I didn't waste calories on the bun, adding guilt to disappointment. I know what you're thinking & I completely agree: I chose poorly. And paid the $12 price tag for about 60c worth of product (check out the pics)!! In my defence I misguidedly expected the concept & execution to be sound given the hype around Neil Perry & his excellent quality ingredients. Incidentally my dining P-I-C was even less impressed with her bun-less classic. Double strike out. IF I visit again I'll shamelessly protein & carb load, hoping for a better outcome - you win, calories & carbs: check & mate. ????

Burger Project's second outlet on Edward St has caused quite a hype with massive line ups since opening few weeks ago. To find out what the fuss is all about, we decided to give their weekday lunch a go. A small queue was present and the wait took around 15min. After reviewing their menu sign board, we ordered: magic deluxe, fried chicken katsu, large chips and two drinks. A buzzer system was in place so take a seat and anticipate folks. The order was ready in around 20min, so lets start with the burgers. Fried chicken katsu was well presented with large piece of deep fried crumbed chicken thigh, pickles, lettuce and katsu sauce. The meat was tender and juicy but some section of the outer crust was overcooked with burnt taste. The lettuce and pickles worked well to balance out the oiliness of the chicken but the katsu sauce was under seasoned. According to the menu, the burger should contain coleslaw but it was forgotten in the one we ordered. 3.5/5 Magic deluxe contains beef patty, crumbed mushroom, cheese, onion, pickle, tomato, lettuce and a rich special sauce. The patty was cooked medium rare and maintained an appatising pink centre. Two bites in and I realised there was a dead bug on the tomato. A replacement burger was delivered within 10min without fuss. The beef patty was chunky (on the tough side) with big beefy flavours but was let down by inconsistent seasoning where several areas showed strong saltiness. The crumbed mushroom was flavourful but again inconsistently seasoned. Veggies was fresh and complemented the beef to perfection. Their light and airy bun was a delight to hold and devour. The so called secret sauce was under seasoned and a bit of a hit and miss from my pov. 3/5 The plain chips ordered was over seasoned with salt and served mildly warm. The house made ginger ale was a disappointment with thin ginger flavour and zero sweetness. 2.5/5 From our experience that day, we found Burger Project to be over hyped. Hint: Lunch time line ups can be chaotic, suggest to try when the hype die down a bit (or the South Bank outlet).

This place is pretty meh. They've packed in tables and chairs (tables bolted to the floor) so you're elbow to elbow inside; which feels stingey and claustrophobic. Burgers took close to half an hour so not overly speedy, and they were nice enoug@h - nothing special. Tried the house made passion soda which was great, and their signature chip sauce just tasted like weird french onion dip. Might be being a bit harsh because the place was so hyped; but I prefer Grill'd (about the same prices).
