We cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough, We found it by chance and returned three times in two days. Wonderful flavours, wonderful portions. Nothing haute, everything fresh hearty and wholesome. We are wondering how and when we will find an excuse to go back to Brioude. Definitely worth changing your route for! View all feedback.
What Courrieu doesn't like about Le Campagnard:
Tried to have Sunday lunch here based on good previous reviews. Open from 12.00 to 14.00 hours for lunch. Entered at 13.25 when a few tables were empty but were chased away by the Patron repeating:Service fini, service fini! OK, for us it will be Service fini forever as far as this establishment is concerned. View all feedback.
Limited menu, with fresh local products. Stop here if you want to try the local specialties in an authentic atmosphere with a super service. Pro tip: ask for the aperitive maison!
This place was a fantastic find. We were en route from Vichy to Avignon and decided to stop in for a lunch. I'm so glad we did! The owner even made arrangements for a vegetarian formule. Thank you!!
We were looking for somewhere to eat and everywhere was full; a couple stopped us and spontaneously recommended Le Campagnard; it is signposted but not as central as some others. The gentleman said it was the best beef he'd tasted but we had the plat de jour at just €12 it was a three course meal set menu with more wine than a driver could safely drink included. A lovely local atmosphere with good quality food at a bargain price. Little English and no English menu but a big smile and genial hospitality.
Traditional regional cuisine done to perfection, husband and wife team. Ambience, menu, experience the real Auvergne. Any lunchtime, but weekends a special treat.
