we asked if they could provide vegan food when we booked and they gave me a 3 course set menu when we arrived with 3 choices per curs. they had obviously tried to think about the creation of nice vegan food. also a vegetarian menu. it costs £29 for 3 courses so not cheap, but eating delicious. What Noël Bouchet doesn't like about Felin Fach Griffin:
maybe offer reduced choices due to kovid, there is only a fixed price menu with a few veggie options per curs (not sure whether vegan or not) and we were disappointed by the simpleness and the lack of taste of the dishes slices of tomaten with a turbidity of basilikum oil was a starter, a pornstar was simply brocilli with some acourcho pure pak! Lovely place and great service. Shame the steak was tough! Can’t say we would return. Such a shame as it could have been so much better.
The Felin Fach Griffin was a recommendation, and what an excellent choice. The service staff were super friendly and really helpful in providing information we asked for about the drinks and food. The ambience was lovely, and oh my goodness, the food was amazing!!! In every way a lovely experience! We would highly recommend to anyone staying anywhere near Brecon. We’ll be back!
We stopped off here after a long walk in the morning so were absolutely famished. Luckily this great gastropub more than hit the spot. Our welcome was warm, in keeping with service that was throughout attentive and helpful. We chose starters and mains from a menu mixing familiar standards with some more interesting choices. For us that included heritage tomatoes and burrata, white crab salad and mussels all excellent and beautifully presented. We were in truth less adventurous with our mains, three of our party of four having chosen traditional fish and chips and one choosing pea risotto. The fish and chips was excellent, the fish well cooked (and not too much batter) and the chips obviously genuinely home made and very filling. Next time we're in the neighbourhood we'll definitely return.
Very disappointed with portions and wine prices exorbitant, £45 for a bottle of Prossecco just silly. Have been coming here for years and though the quality of the food is excellent the price for the Ploughman's.....
A speculative phone call yielded: “Yes, we’ve just started offering breakfast to non-residents”. We booked immediately, expecting a treat and a treat it certainly proved to be. A warm welcome, friendly service and a flawless breakfast made for an ideal stop en-route to Pembrokeshire.
