After observing this rustic little treat from across the small lake it sits on every single time I donate blood, I finally convinced my overly skeptical companion to try it with me (I might 've hit the bar once before). It was Saturday night, and it was definitely busy. I called in our order for takeout and when we got there 20 minutes later it was ready. But before I get to the food, something I thought was interesting, that no one else has mentioned, were the several seating options available: Indoor restaurant service, which has an unexpectedly crisp nautical vibe to it. Grandma would like it. The bar area, more rough and gritty. Then there are picnic tables (some with umbrellas) all the way past the parking lot, on the grass just next to the lake. There were even tables on the pavement for the those who wanted to be away from others, but close to the bar. Really good variety of seating options, considering. I have a small appetite and ordered the oysters Rockefeller. Half dozen oysters, nicely cheesed herbed . They were so rich and filling, I finished them for breakfast. My dining companion had a turkey club. Nice presentation, though he asked for mayo and mustard on the side and they were not there. But it was written up like that on the order. The nice gal who took the order (and as we would later find out was not only answering the phone, seating people, but what looked like singlehandedly waiting on the diners inside), took it correctly, the kitchen just didn 't execute. No big deal. However, he commented that it was completely saturated and butter and the sheen on the bread confirmed this. I will be back, even if it takes me some convincing on his part.

Friends had sandwiches That they enjoyed and they got an extra star for a biodegradable cardboard Takeaway box.
It's been over a couple months since my husband and I dined out at a restaurant. These are just some weird times and it's slowly getting back to normal. Honestly, it just felt so good to be out of the house and on a date night by the water. The social distancing was definitely out of the question since there was a lively crowd around the outside bar area living it up. Another weird thing about the location is that there are two parking lots: one behind the restaurant and one in front of it. It's on a church lot facing Hypoluxo and the other is a lot in front of the restaurant by the water. Both of them do not have a lot of parking, so be prepared when you go that you might end up driving around for a bit if you look for one in the front or you may end up parking on the street leading to the restaurant. When we went up to the hostess stand, nobody was there and we had to look for someone to see about getting a table since we didn't know if it was a seat yourself kind of a deal. Someone who worked there said to help ourselves to a table and we would be waited on. It was about 10 minutes before a waiter came by to give us a menu. It took about another 10 minutes for him to come back to get our order. The pineapple and vodka cocktails and food were brought out quickly and it was delicious. We had mozzarella wedges with a side of marinara sauce. They were filled with lots of cheese and the dipping sauce was good. The French dip sandwich along with a side of fries was excellent. We were so stuffed after eating most of our meals and had to sit back to digest while listening to a live DJ playing music for added entertainment. We were waiting to receive the bill and it took a while to find the waiter. My husband had to get up and ask someone else about it since we couldn't find him. The other staff member rang up our check and we waited on the waiter to come back to receive the payment. It seem like 15 minutes went by before he finally came around to get the bill and it was another 10 minutes before we got our card back. The drinks and food was delicious, but the service reeked. We understand that it was Friday night and they were probably short staffed. Plus, they probably had a bigger crowd than expected since restrictions with capacity limits are being lifted during this bizarre time. However, it was unnecessary that it took that long to close out a tab. The waiters were being stopped by customers and I'm sure that's what made the staff side tracked while being short staffed causing them to forget the other customers in different areas of the restaurant. I wouldn't mind returning if I knew that the service would be a whole lot better with more staff and not being forgotten about.
Following a wine tasting in Boynton Beach, some friends suggested we go to the Lakeside Anchor Inn. I had heard about this place throughout the years as a local hangout out of Lantana; no frills, come as you are, drink Bud Light, eat wings, play pool, with a decent view of the lake in the background. Located off of Hypoluxo Road just west of High Ridge Road, the Anchor is a little hidden outside of the sign that doesn 't necessarily stick out as you would hope. If you don 't know where you 're going, you can blink and miss the turn. It doesn 't help that there 's a church property in front of the Anchor, facing onto Hypoluxo. There is no accessible entrance from the street entrance through the church parking lot to the Anchor. Instead, you have to turn right on the street after the church, followed by another right and take that down to the end where you will see the Anchor... (wait for it) on the right. Just consider the directions right ... unless you 're coming from the west then it 's left and two right turns. But I digress. I did like they had some scotches I like to drink like the Balvenie 12 and Glenfiddich 15. That kept me going. I ordered peel and eat shrimp for my lady and wings (flats only) for me. They were savory, enjoyed myself immensely while having some laughs with friends as they played pool and kept that Saturday evening real. Now that I live and work farther away than I used to, I wouldn 't call this my go to even if I did live closer. But for what the Anchor is a local dive bar with a Polynesian outdoor bar and an indoor lounge with a pool table, it 's an alright hangout where you can chill for a drink.
This was my first visit to this restaurant. It had a nice large deck area with lake views. It was such a nice day, I wanted to be outside. I ordered the crab cake sandwich. It was decent. Not much filler which is always a plus. The fries were extremely salty. The serving size was on the small side and overpriced in my opinion. I don't think I'll run back here anytime soon but glad I tried it.
