What User doesn't like about Grand Lafayette:
Went there on Friday 29th of July 2022 night for diner. Food quality was good and fresh. Ordering was e and service was friendly. Price is not match with the whole experience though. If you pay that much you expect better and fancier environment. Also portions wasn’t enough. We ended up paying 387$ just for 4 people having main and desert. we had a bottle of white as well which was 36$ In addition to the pricy menu y... View all feedback.
I had a fantastic experience at this restaurant! It's a unique spot with great food, a lively atmosphere, and friendly service. If you haven't tried it yet while in Prahan, you definitely should. The dishes are delicious and fresh, showcasing a modern Japanese cuisine style. It's a really intriguing place to dine, and you must try their crispy dango. The restaurant is quite spacious, making it a perfect choice for large groups and various occasions. I can't wait to return!
This popular modern Japanese restaurant is a favorite among both Melburnians and tourists, conveniently located at 9 Clifton St, Prahran. We had an absolutely wonderful experience in this beautiful, spacious venue. The staff was incredibly friendly, and the dining experience was simply delightful. We were excited to try their new à la carte menu, which features a delicious mix of fusion dishes and Japanese classics. We enjoyed the tartare with soy yolk, avocado, and rice puff ($26.50), as well as the beef tataki with soy yolk and scallions ($27.50). I must mention my love for tempura, and I had a delightful portion all to myself—no sharing!
While the concept of the beef sukiyaki was promising, the beef itself was a bit tough. We suggested that a fattier cut be used and perhaps cooked medium rare for better tenderness. The baked scallops were a highlight, featuring a delightful cheesy sauce that we thoroughly enjoyed. The salmon volcano maki had great textures and flavors, although the rice could have been less mushy. We also sampled their stunning raindrop desserts, which we found to be refreshing and light—a perfect way to round off the buffet. Additionally, the service was outstanding. Thank you, Grand Lafayette, for your generosity!
