Not to be biased but we've been to many cafes around town and Cafe Society stands out above all including the 'Flash' touristy ones in town! We have been coming back for years (even when it was Goldies) because whatever they do thats different is great. The food is fantastic every time and the service is warm and inviting.Located next to Coles in The Willows Shopping Centre it's certainly worth the drive out. See for... View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Cafe Society:
Dropped in for a cup of motivation (Long Black - no sugar) before pushing a cart next door at Coles. Whilst I was impressed with the service, staff and the overall establishment the coffee was underwhelming. As is usually the case the blend would probably suit milk based drinks and not those without - oh well! View all feedback.
I absolutely adore the food at this restaurant. The coffee is fantastic and the staff are super friendly. The kids' nuggets and chips are a hit, as are the fluffy pancakes. The cake cabinets offer a wide variety of options to choose from, including gluten free choices.
CASTLETOWN Branch: While I was away, a new shop sprang up in Castletown, replacing the cafe right at the busiest entrance. We went there today for lunch and sorry that I did. I could have done a better job. The mess we were both served...absolutley took our breath away. I made sure I took plenty of photos so you could see for yourself. As pictured,, I ordered the CAFE steak sandwich with chips and my companion ordered from the all day breakfast menu Savoury Mince with Toast. The wait was incredible for a Sunday over a half hour, with six staff on! The presentation was woeful and the taste was awful. No choices given for bread and I would have preferred some choice, like wholewheat or wholegrain rather than white. NO Gluten Free options were on their signs. Mine came first and I was horrified that my steak sandwich had been cut into four quarters (without me even being asked) as if I was a child. The chips were covered with some sort of horrible savoury chicken salt and tasted disgusting. The steak was not prime fillet, but cheap round steak and the whole sandwich had been microwaved and the meat tasted boiled and the salad was all limp, watery and disgusting. There was no options with sauce, I had a blob of barbeque sauce and that was it. If it wasn't after and if I'd paid I'd have bitterly complained. But I didn't want to upset my companion, so I ate some of it. He was trying to eat his slop as well. I've fed better food to my pigs. My companions meal was truly disgusting. The toast was white, cold, dry and hard. It had a thick slab of what tasted like margarine (not butter) on the cold toast and it sat on top all cold. Next to the toast was a bowl of what initially looked like feces. The mince (pictured) had clearly been slopped hard into the bowl and had overflowed the side. My companion scooped it back in before I got a picture. The mince was cheap and nasty with frozen vegetables and thickened with gravy powder and the whole gob had been microwaved. It was excessively salty as well. He said it tasted disgusting. Nothing on counters either, no extra cutlery, no sauce, no napkins. Just a tips jar. One of the waitstaff was also sweeping the floor around people while they were eating, which i found incredibly rude and inconsiderate as well. With four behind the counter and two in the kitchen, and a brand new place I expected much better. I'll never go back.
I ordered the Daisy Chunky Beef pie, which was homemade and filled with tender, real beef. The pie had a great tasting gravy and was encased in a lovely pastry. My wife had the chicken club sandwich, which was also delicious and came with a generous portion of freshly cooked chips. To top it off, I enjoyed a lime thickshake, which was absolutely amazing.
Went is as a family of three ordered our meals at the same time one meal was brought out and finished before the other meals arrived . Service was slow and not very friendly staff and the poached egg was like a hard boiled...egg . First and last time I’ll be going there .
Struggled to finish it as it was such a big portion. A large portion with poached eggs, cherry tomatoes and crumbed halloumi and toast. Beautifully presented with great service. The thick shakes are to die for and the best I have had for years....I will be back. Great start of week specials on the board. Check it out.
