I rated this place as 4 stars because of the service. The wait staff was friendly and fast. The food was good by Blackfoot standards. Perhaps I am spoiled due to where I live. I ordered the New York with shrimp. It was good enough. I also had asparagus and a side Caesar salad. The salad needed help. View all feedback.
What Connie Jo W doesn't like about Local Steakhouse:
The restaurant is no longer serving steak but has switched to a Mexican menu. I have not had the chance to visit yet so I cannot provide any feedback on the menu or service. View all feedback.

A new place here in Blackfoot ID. One of the nicer places I've been for lunch. No real lunch crowd to deal with. That's nice. Seated right away and loved the up best music playing. Thank You Tabitha.Lunch was a smash!! Definitely worth the stop. I'll come back and try the dinner.
Thank goodness we found this place! Very few places in Blackfoot open on Sunday. Very nice place. Steak was very good (sirloin). Wife had filet and it was excellent. Our spinach (mine creamed and her's plain) was really tasty. Stop in if you want a good steak!
It's nice to have a place that is open longer then 8pm. The service was great and the food was amazing! Prime rib excellent and their burgers are amazing! It's nice to also have a place u can order your burger however u prefer. Med rare, well, well done etc. definitely a new place for us.
My wife and I went to the new steakhouse based off of an article we saw in the local newspaper about the owner/chef and his new restaurant for one of our very few date nights when the stars align no kid events and we can get a babysitter. It looked like the restaurant was going to be upscale and something new and exciting for Blackfoot. We were very disappointed. The décor was awful, service was mediocre, and the food was hit and miss. For what it is the prices are very steep you could swallow if the atmosphere and food was up to par. Atmosphere: It looks like they put white tablecloths on the tables, wine bottles on the fireplace, dressed up the front door, rearranged the seating, and left the rest of the dingy old west look of the old Stockmans restaurant as is. We were very disappointed. The black and white tile, burlap sack window dressing, barn kitchen façade, walls with a few old west decorations and western murals, and crisp clean table dressings really clash. The silverware looks like it came from a cafeteria and for some reason you only get one so if you get a salad you better keep it. Being a high end restaurant wouldn't you would expect to get at least two forks? On that note when the brought out bread they did not bring out plates to put the bread on. We had to use our napkins... Food: On that note we will move into the food. Ok so there seems to be some confusion on the menu. So for the main course there are some items that are included as sides and you can pick 2 or you can add a side salad for .99. The premium sides you can add for an upcharge and they range from like $4.99 to $5.99 or something like that and they were pretty good. The soup was awful and my wife had to send it back. They only had one soup and that was the French onion. It tasted like onion broth (no beef at all and instead of a crunchy top it was like a loaf of bread was added an hour before we got it and cheese added on top and microwaved and then served. It was mushy and overall disgusting and the waitress did end up taking it off of our bill. Usually we like to add a crusty bread or crouton to the soup right before serving and then melt the cheese on top of it that way the bread is still crusty. Also to have a nice mixture of both soup and bread and onion. This was all onion and bread. I think the bread soaked up all of the broth. It was horrible. Next was the wine, they had a wine mix that was not bad but for $6.00 for a quarter glass I was not impressed. We were given bread that was not bad and a honey butter that was ok. The main course I ordered a New York medium rare, bacon baked potato, house salad, and side shrimp. My wife had the prime rib special with the bacon baked potato, and brussel sprouts. The steaks were cooked very well and the New York was flavored well. They sear them in a cast iron skillet so they do not have a flame grilled taste. It was a bit off, but not bad, just off. We did ask for horseradish and the waitress said that she was not sure if they had any more and had to check. (A steakhouse without horseradish?? She did end up finding some eventually. My wife asked for her baked potato to be loaded but she only received sour cream with hers and when she received the container the sour cream was like putty. We also did not receive bacon that was supposed to come with the bacon baked potato. We were then informed that they were out of bacon!! Maybe they should have informed us of that when we ordered it or asked us if we wanted something else or a substitute? Nope. The shrimp was good, but was cold when I got it. It had very good flavor and a nice presentation. There were about four of them and they were large and cut up and piled on top of one another in a pile that made it look really nice. They had a good garlic flavor and I really liked them. They went well with my steak. The brussel sprouts were very good and we liked them very much. They were tangy and had a bit of spice with a nice smoky bacon flavor. They were definitely the highlight of my wife's meal. The waitress presented us with the check and I had to ask her about desert. She said that they only had a cheesecake. I asked if they had anything they could put on it and she said that they could put caramel, chocolate, or strawberry on it. I asked for caramel, but what I received was a turtle cheesecake with nuts on it which was not one of the options and not what I asked for and not what I liked with chocolate sauce around it..... What if I had a nut allergy? After paying the $75 and something bill plus a tip I don't think I will be giving this restaurant my business again in the near future. This may have been an off day, but for a Friday evening they should have had their A game. I gave this restaurant two stars because the steak and salad was ok. I took off stars because the décor is rough, the service is inattentive, and the rest of the food was not very good.
