What User doesn't like about Kicho Japanese:
We thought the first dish of assorted sashimi was miniscule. We make this comment having experienced many Japanese restaurants. There were 4 people dining, with three very small tastes each. The rest of our meal was very enjoyable. The restaurant was very noisy and used dishes were left on the table for long periods of time. View all feedback.
I would like to see more vegan choices on the menu! The food was really tasty, although slightly salty. Overall, it was some of the best vegan Japanese food I've ever tried.
I tried the 7-course set menu at this restaurant and the food tasted great. The presentation was beautiful, especially the Sushi Roll made with creamy tofu. It was the best vegan sushi I have had in a long time.
The vegan creamy tofu dish at Kicho is fantastic and unique, one of the best vegan sushi dishes I've had. The tofu gealterashi dish and cauliflower are also excellent, while the edamame and chips are great. Every vegan option is fantastic and they are also knowledgeable about gluten-free options, which was accommodating for my coeliac girlfriend. It would be helpful if the vegan options were listed on the menu, but the staff are quick to inform you of vegan and GF choices if you ask. The decor and vibe at Kicho are great, and I would recommend making a booking before visiting. I suggest taking the 600, 922, or 923 buses from Sandringham station to get to Black Rock and visit Kicho, or there is plenty of parking nearby.
