We stopped here during a recent visit to Bilbao and were pleasantly surprised by the meal of the day. All courses were fresh, nice size and well prepared. Service was friendly, with an invite to come back at night when there would be music.
Only a short walk from the Guggenheim we were weary and had time on our hands before heading off to the airport. We only found this authentic place to eat because a local kindly recommended it to us, even drawing us a map. We ate in the early evening and chose the excellently priced menu del dia €15 pp for 3 courses, wine and coffee. For starters we shared two dishes a mixed salad which came with tuna, and green beans served with new potatoes, olive oil and garlic. For mains we both chose the hake which came fried with real chips and a few fried green peppers. For desert we again shared, slices of apple custard tart and cheesecake. The starters and mains were cooked to order and served quickly and politely. Excellent value, good tasty food in simple surroundings, we ate in a mezzanine dining area above the bar and didn't need to eat anything else for the rest of the day!
Went here for lunch and had the menú. The food was pretty good with a patient staff who was willing to work with our poor Spanish. Very good seafood
As soon as you enter, the upstairs is full of smoke with the smell of fish. They take our note of the menu right away, but it takes them 40 minutes to bring the first one, which consisted of a fish soup (water with stock cube), pre-cooked risotto, and seafood rice (also rice with stock cube and two squid). The second, beef churrasco, there was no way to cut it hard, and the rest was neither fu nor fa, all accompanied by yesterday's bread. The desserts are outstanding, the cheesecake is quite good. To top it all off, you could continually hear a noise of something electrical that already gave you a headache. Quite an experience
