My boyfriend and I had dinner here the other night and loved the food. We live in Vegas and have gone to some amazing restaurants. My boyfriend had the fillet mignon on and he said melted in his mouth. I had the Alaskan King Crab Legs and they were fantastic and they pre-cut them which was very helpful. I like that the meals come with your choice of a side and soup or salad. I really liked the prime rib vegetable sou... View all feedback.
What Jerry Flores doesn't like about Captain's Anchorage Restaurant And Bar:
The restaurant is overpriced and overrated. The pasta, a mix of vegetables, was not good. We were expecting a British pub but instead got a mediocre steakhouse. The ambiance reminded me of my great aunt Ethel's house. We had high expectations but were let down. The only highlight was the excellent clam chowder. If possible, I would rate this restaurant half a star. Food: 1 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 1 View all feedback.
I would like to begin this review by clarifying that the restaurant has been underoccupied and that this may not be the exact reflexion of the restaurant if it is fully occupied. I understand that due to the lack of chefs there may be a decay in food quality, but I felt that the quality of food was also very disappointing in an underoccupied kitchen. the service was good, and the suppe was also, but unfortunately the escapes were slandered and incomplete. we paid almost $40 for half a half of the laugh that was beyond the scary. the ricer had very little taste. the tortellini with huh was not seasoned at all and was very dry, but the dish was watery. the sweet potato friars were very cold. many of our dishes felt imperfect and went unfinished. I hope that was only an irregularity and people can enjoy a meal here in the future. I would like to point out that the waiting staff was of great quality and the entire ambiente of the restaurant is very charming. I wish that was better.
The bartender was nice. It was off putting to walk in and there was a sign that says masks for $2 a piece.. It felt very rude. The food was mediocre if not as good as Denny's. My husband got a steak which could have worked better as a hamburger and my seafood was sad.
Delicious dinner with a friendly staff! We were surprised to be seated right away without a reservation. (Just the two of us, but there are big booths for larger groups Just as quickly, we were served water, cocktails, and a bread basket; perfect after a day of snowboarding. The clam chowder is shockingly good! Creamy, but not to heavy, with plenty of clams and a nice celery flavor. Cocktails were tasty and well balanced. I recommend the Irish Old Fashion. Entrees were delicious and filling. The atmosphere is a *little fancy* but the customers were a mix, dressed in athletic snow clothes and others in cocktail/dinner attire.
Very good food and great service! Exactly what we needed after an energy intensive ski day! Decor is rustic but cozy. We will definitely come back again!
My wife and I have been coming up here every year since the mid 80's and this is our all time restaurant for dinner. When we come up the hill we eat here a minimum of twice in the week when we stay up here. We have never been disappointed in the food nor the service.
