This little restaurant was our favourite during the 3 weeks we spent in McLeod. Huge pots of tea, cheap but absolutely delicious food (our favourites were the special fried thenthuk, veg momos and the fried tofu in spinach and gravy - loads of veg packed into whichever dish you order!) and delightful, happy monks who make your day every time you walk through the door. There's no surprise this little place is always p... View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Shangrila Restaurant:
Shangrila is one of the most unusual restaurants in McCleod Ganj as it is run by a monastery and the monks and serves vegetarian food with eggs. (Although the listing mentioned Kangra but it is specifically next to the Main Square.) The food is reasonably priced and tastes good. The place is simple and serves good Tibetan menu. Service is a bit on the slower side. View all feedback.
Clean, Yummy food. This place is run by Monks and all the proceeds go to the monks education. Great place to enjoy Tibetan flavours, all served in veg. Must recommended spinach sheeshe momos and thupka
Great restaurant run by a monastery to raise money, but the main reason to go is the Tibetan food. It doesn’t get more authentic than this, as others have said the monos where slightly bland but that is why they are served with salt, soy sauce and chilli paste so you make them to your taste. The restaurant had many Tibetan families so it must be authentic.
We were keen to go here as it's a pure vegetarian tibetan eateries restaurant. But it was the worst decision of the trip. The momos were bland, the noodle soup thukpa was also not authentic, and the spring rolls were so mainly stuffed with white flour, and not crunchy or tasty at all. It's inexpensive, compared to the rest of the other eateries, but not worth it.
I'm not sure why this restaurant is considered a budget option at $2 - it's actually one of the most affordable choices in town. The food is good and reasonably priced, especially the momos which we really enjoyed. The portion sizes are generous and the service is excellent. We ended up eating here almost every day.
We had dinner at a Tibetian restaurant pure vegetarian Shangri La on the Jogiwara Road. We ordered for Tupkas and momos. The momos were very bland with no salt and spice and so was the soupy noodles Tupka. We experienced the Tibetian food but did not suit us for the blandness of the food. We found it difficult to complete it.
