Trattoria La Siciliana - Berkeley

One of my favorite restaurants! 8 years ago, during the worl cup, my family and I were walking looking for a place to eat and we found them. It was full but they asked us to wait be the kitchen. They were talkative and offered us a wine taste with some aged cheese. I will never forget it! They were rooting for Italy. The food was and still is amazing! Don't forget to bring cash.

Excellent food served by super friendly people. The Sicilian hospitality is really there ESPECIALLY if you can manage to dabble a little Italian or if you have some Italian roots in you, no matter how far back along the line!! As a Frenchman whose family is largely from down south (Cannes, Grasse, therefore my family down there is very Italian), This great feel good family tavern (that 's what 'trattoria ' means) is the closest thing to Mediterranean Europe you can get I 've seen this far in the Bay Area, at least...

Great food, great atmosphere. Get ready to wait, even if you have a reservation, and the place is small and congested. However, it's all worth it in the end.
