Marco and Sonia ran a cooking class for us (2 adults, 4 teens). They arranged the class for our interest (working with Chilis) and skill level. We cooked (and ate) many dished, and Marco taught us multiple techniques. Great experience! View all feedback.
Sonia and Marco and their wonderful food keep us coming back. When looking for places to stay during Spring Break we have to ask will Sonia and Marco be available? The best meals on our trip were all prepared by Marco. Daily our kids would ask, "Is Marco coming tonight"? The fresh salsas, guacamole, pork pozole, breaded pork cutlets, flan....and of course...Marco's margaritas! The meals were all excellent!
I got Marco's recommendation from a friend and I couldn't have been happier with the choice. He prepared two excellent meals for me and my family of 7 and each meal was a totally different experience. I was able to pick from a variety of choices each evening including dessert ( the flan is to die for. After the first night we changed our dessert for the second night to the flan again. It is unbelievable it is that good). We had one vegetarian among us an he totally accommodated her needs as well. The second night he was cooking I mentioned I was going to get some pastry at the store as we had made breakfast tacos the prior 4 mornings. He said " you should try my crepes" and we did. There were by far the best crepes I have ever had. Strawberry, mango, blueberry, with the Carmel topping he made from scratch. I would have hated to have missed that. If you're in Cancun, puerto Morales, playa Del carmen, have Marco prepare a meal or two for you as you won't be sorry. And give yourself a treat, one morning have the crepes. I wish I had one right now. EnjoyKeithPs. Not really a restaurant as he will cook at your vacation rental.
The food was very delicious and even more reasonable. I would definitely recommend this place to visit for a fast and decent meal.
We were in Puerto Morelos the last week of February. In past visits I have attended classes at the Little Mexican Cooking school - which was great - but this year I couldn't get an answer from them as to what would be on the menu for the class available during my visit. I have dietary restrictions, as does the friend that would be taking the class with me. I started looking around and found out that in addition to catering meals, Dona Sonia and her husband Marco offer cooking classes that you can either attend at their location, or in your own place if your kitchen is sufficiently stocked. I contacted her and was beyond pleasantly surprised at how responsive she was, and how willing to work with our dietary restrictions. Our kitchen at our rental was pretty well stocked, so we did the class there, and it was wonderful! All of the food that they showed us how to make was incredibly delicious, even down to something as basic as rice. I normally don't love rice all that much, I see if more as a filler for tastier things. The rice we made that day was by far the most delicious I've ever had - I could eat bowls of it by itself. After the class she emailed me the recipes for everything we made, so that I wouldn't forget how to make it again. Also - and I really want to stress this - Sonia and her husband Marco are incredibly nice people, really fun and informative to be around. I am so glad that we booked a class with them, it was awesome to have such a personalized cooking class, where I felt like I could ask as many questions as I wanted. If you like to cook, I would highly recommend booking a class. If you don't like to cook, then I highly recommend having them cater for you.
My entire family spent a week at Casa del Sol and after a long day of traveling it was so great to have the refrigerators and cupboards stocked with food and beverages. Sonia was so easy to work with prior to our vacation and provided us with many great suggestions regarding what we would need and even things that we should do on our trip. With Puerto Morelos being a smaller town with limited grocery stores, Sonia and Marco were able to purchase the items we needed from the surrounding area and this saved us time, cab fare and the hassle of trying to figure out where to shop. I do recommend the muffins Sonia purchased for breakfast. Additionally, Marco prepared two meals for us and had his famous "Marco-ritas" waiting for us upon arrival. Everything was fantastic! Whether you are new to Puerto Morelos or a seasoned traveler, the convenience of having Sonia and Marco help with the details made the trip that much more relaxing and enjoyable.
