Herpichs Restaurant - Bayreuth

We went here because of tripadvisor rating. Interesting place, which was, when we came there (aug 2021 , run by one person in a wheelchair (surprise 1 . He was both the cook and the waiter (surprise 2 . He cant get good staff, so is forced to do everything by himself, but it works really well. Seems to be a wine expert (I can't really judge because I certainly am not one : . His advice for a local wine was interesting . You'll be asked what you want to eat, because there is no menu (surprise 3 . We were very happy with the food and wine, and the service was very friendly and personal. Because of the shortage of staff, not many can come so reserve well in advance (or come at 17:30 like we did . Well made up tables, nice decorations with lots of wisdom in them. And bottles of wine everywhere which creates a pleasant ambiance indeed!

So tonight, our second evening in Bayreuth we went to, at the recommendation of our friend Sven from Munich, dinner at Herpichs in Bayreuth. Last night as you will see by my review of gästatte wolffenzacher they were crazy exaggerated about their reaction to how to try and prevent covid, seriously nuts because they don't sterilise they just wipe. Well tonight we went to Herpichs and met the owner Heiner who was amazing, so was the ambience the food and service and the personal attention Honestly, if you live here or not or are planning a visit, this is the ONE MUST DO RESTAURANT Great food ambience and such a great owner/chef Can't say more Just eat here

One of these hidden great places where you get your steak just right. Together with a local beer or some good wines. And on top the owner self takes care of you :

We visited this restaurant twice during our week in Bayreuth. It is located in one of the elegant 18th century houses on Friedrichstrasse. It may have been Mr Herpich himself who talked us through the fairly restricted menu and offered 3 courses for €29 each person which was good value considering the pleasant surroundings and quality of food. It was very hot so we dined in a small open courtyard at the back of the restaurant on both occasions. It is slightly rough round the edges and late at night even the chef does some waiting on tables. But all in all, a nice experience.

Waren zum Abendessen mit einer Gruppe im Henrichs. Sehr angenehmer Aufenthalt. Sehr freundliche und aufmerksame Bedienung in einem familiären Ambiente. Schön eingerichtetes Restaurant. Wir hatten das angebotene Menu gegessen und waren mit Essen und den Weinen sehr zufrieden.
