Upon entering, the delightful aroma immediately captivates you! The staff is wonderful and very attentive. The pastries I've tried are absolutely delicious; they still make my mouth water just thinking about them. I ordered a birthday cake, and the person who assisted me with my special order was incredibly polite, taking the time to ensure everything was clear and concise. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about The Ambrosia Bakery:
I recently visited for breakfast and ordered two breakfast sandwiches. Unfortunately, we waited over 40 minutes only to discover that our order had been misplaced because they couldn't find us. We were sitting outside, where I had informed them we were located. The staff seemed unhelpful and indifferent, showing no concern or apology for the situation. I'm quite disappointed, especially since I usually enjoy the food... View all feedback.
Must stop when I'm in the city to visit baton rouge! the fresh strawberry cake is my favorite!
We live in Goodwood, two blocks from Whole Foods, 4 blocks from Gambino 's Bakery, and 4 blocks from Balm 's Bakery. While Ambrosia is on the other side of town for us. My wife said she wanted a cake for her birthday but she said, You know Whole Foods cakes just aren 't as good as they used to be. The choice for me was easy, Ambrosia simply makes the best cakes in town. My wife LOVED her cake (Praline). One by one, she got on the phone and invited almost the whole neighborhood over for a slice. The people at Ambrosia could not be nicer. They always come through. They could be half way to New Orleans and I would still make the pilgrimage.
I used to love Ambrosia Bakery but the quality is not what it used to be. We were given the wrong filling for my birthday cake and the cake was very stale. I would like to know how old the cake was. It was also overly sweet and barely edible. Ambrosia has not responded to my mom's calls or any of my messages. We still have the cake and would like a refund. Complete waste of time, money, and energy. Think twice before getting your cakes here if it is an important occasion.
I love this bakery so much! They have been a part of major milestones in my life since my 13th birthday party, for almost 29 years now!! I'm shocked I've never left them a review before! From king cakes during Mardi Gras season, to a sweet treat for having a great week, they have never failed me. My favorite cakes that they do are the fresh strawberry cake and the Scarlet O'Hara cake, both are amazing!! The Ambrosia bakery also did my wedding cake along with the grooms cake, they did an absolute phenomenal job, everything was flawless from the design and details of the cakes to the delivery at the reception. They were able to pull off my husband's vision for his groom's cake so well that he was so surprised in the best way. To this day it's still the best carrot cake he's ever had. I loved my wedding cake, they included the cutest cake pulls for my bridesmaids, they loved the charms so much! The flavor was so amazing, they were able to do different flavors in each tier of the wedding cake. We saved the topper in the freezer, in the topper box they gave us, and thawed it a year later, it tasted so fresh as if they made it that morning, I was really surprised at how fresh it tasted. I've moved states and live in Austin, TX now, but I still order king cakes from the Ambrosia Bakery every year during Mardi Gras and I visit the bakery every time I'm in town.
I was really excited to try the cinnamon bun but was very disappointed. It was hard and had almost very little icing and cinnamon inside. We did warm it up quite a bit in the microwave to soften the inside but it was still quite bland. My husband got the pecan brownie and it was entirely too sweet. I had a bite and needed several swigs of milk afterwards! The texture was very nice though. Portions are very big and lots of options to choose from but we won't be coming back.
