Ficarella's Pizzeria - Batavia

Last night (Friday) I had the best pizza in this area since Mother's Chicken Ribs closed. It was at Ficarella. I've had Fics Pizza regularly for years. It was always quite good, but in the days of really big pizza grew up [Bildlows, PizzaPartners, Ginos, DiSalvos] IMO no pizza has been here for a long time “big”... [Everyone jumps on the blows, the sauces have no taste, are too sour, or sweet I hate sweet]. I usually get Fics traditional hearth cooked, but this time I ordered a Deep Dish Pan pizza with only peppermint, mushrooms and black olives... and it was exceptional. The best I've had in this area for years. Good sauce flavor, beautiful dough [top a bit thick], loaded with the punches and cheese... It tasted like I remember pizzas from the old days! It tasted very cold this morning. Of course, I have to try again to see if it's consistent, or if I was lucky last night.

This was my first time here. Sitting where I could see into the kitchen see the relative age of the cooks and hear all the laughter. I will admit I was a little nervous about the food I was waitin for. When I received my meal it was not only in a very timely manner but is was great. Good food good people make for a great place

Stopped on my way back to Columbus, OH from Maine cause we were craving pizza, glad we did!! Great pizza, nd friendly people. If ever thru here again Wil definitely stop again.
