By far the best Chinese food in Basel with really good prices. Run by a family, this place does some great dishes with quick and friendly service! The owners favourite chicken dish was absolutely delicious, highly recommend to have that! View all feedback.

Went there for take aways after reading on a forum that the restaurant was amongst a few in Basel to have an authentic Chinese/Asian taste/cuisine (Asian food is generally really bad in Switzerland, not much flavours). Ordered a few dishes and it turned out that everything was the same. As in cooked in the same basic random stir fry. It wasn’t even what we ordered. Beef Szechuan turned out to be beef with soja sauce and chicken satay was not satay (some red sauce but no peanut taste), just a rather dull taste. Absolutely edible but not worth spending more than 100 CHF on absolutely tasteless Chinese take aways (again welcome to Switzerland). The worst Asian meal I had here and I had many. An absolute pass, go to Markthalle instead (easier to find, reasonable price and plenty of options). The staff was nice though I’ll give them that.
I’ve no idea how authentic the food is, but one great thing, was that all the dishes we ordered tasted completely different and were delicious! (I’ve been to many a Chinese restaurant where the sauces taste practically all the same and are doused in monosodium glutamate not here! It’s also a rather small but amicable family run joint, so it needs our support! The Wantan I started with, were the best I have ever had the pastry crispy but almost melt in your mouth and the filling generous and exquisite! I ate the “Cantonese Crispy Duck”. It’s just like another reviewer said crispy but fresh tasting and succulent I ate most of the duck without the accompanying sauce because the meat was so well prepared. The vegetarian “Chop Suey” my fiancé ate was an absolute delight, very fresh, colourful and bursting with flavour! The white and red wines on offer from the Napa Valley are easy on the wallet and accompany the food perfectly. We decided to make an exception and to order the Chinese speciality dessert on offer deep fried ice cream. Give it a go. It’s a delicious mixture of sweet (vanilla ice cream and savoury (deep fried batter perfect!
The springrolls were „slouchy“, they should be crispy. The sauces of the dishes were average, but the meat was definitely not fresh. In my opinion, it’s not authentic chinese food. But I need to add that the waitresses were nice! Still, I‘m sorry, but I‘m not going to eat there again.
You have to know where they are to get there, but the food is worth the effort. My wife and I lived within walking distance of Futo, but didn 't know about it until a colleague described a business lunch she had there. We went for dinner, and Futo instantly became our go to place for excellent Chinese food, to the point that we went there weekly, and went there for celebration dinners with friends. We 've since moved about 250 km away, but every time we visit Basel, we go to Futo. And we also buy a bunch of take out to take home, freeze, and enjoy when we 're missing such good food. This is not a fancy place, but it is clean, well lit, and nicely decorated. Plus, the Law family is remarkably friendly, and always greet us warmly when we visit. He is the chef, and you can watch him in action through the large windows of the kitchen. His pork dishes are great the meat is very tender, with no gristle at all. I 'm told that it takes him a lot of effort to ensure this, so pork dishes run out about mid week. His black bean sauce is homemade and EXCELLENT. But we have many favorite dishes from tofu in soja sauce to Singapore rice noodles to squid in a ginger sauce. He doesn 't use MSG, and if you prefer your food to be less salty than the typical European likes, just ask and he 'll cut back. For our special meals, we often pre order his Peking Duck. The first time we had it at Futo was a revelation! I later had an opportunity to travel to Beijing for business, and decided that I had to try this dish in its home town. My colleagues and I looked for the best place for Peking Duck and yet, I found that Futo 's was far superior! Mrs. Law is the face of Futo, and she makes sure that all their guests are comfortable and well served. She is a warm and friendly person, making visits there so much better. Futo is generally packed for lunch on weekdays the local workers at Bayer, Roche and other companies near the train station are big patrons. So, get there early (11:30) if you 're going then. At night, though, because there is virtually no foot traffic by the restaurant, there generally are tables available. Go. Eat and Enjoy! We do.
Hi, My wife and I visited yesterday and will not be returning. Service poor. The waitress was far more interested in other customers, and even paused to take our order so that she could attend to them instead. (The place was not busy when we visited). Food the starter, dumplings with prawns, made my wife feel ill immediately. the mains far too much salt in one dish. The other dish lacked in flavour and depth. Both main dishes were very oily. Beer worst of all was the draft (vom fass) beer, Feldschlösschen. It is a beer I drink daily at other places and so I know it extremely well. The beer served here lacked the crispness and bite of a normal 'Feldy ' and tasted like it had been watered down. If so, the restaurant is badly letting down its customers.
