Town and Country Steakhouse - Barrie

Based on the positive reviews, we decided to have a special dinner here last night. Aside from the company, it was mostly a disaster: 1. They didn't have the Prosecco we wanted that was listed on the menu (this was minor, really; I mention it only to add to all the reasons we were so displeased). 2. The waitress said the vegetable medley included asparagus. I was pleasantly surprised and so I didn't order a side dish of asparagus. I was disappointed to see NO asparagus in the vegetable medley. 3. The major problem was that our steaks were cooked improperly. Our guest asked for his large steak well-done, but it was somewhere between medium and medium-well. Despite our urging, he wouldn't send it back. However, he didn't eat much of it and took it home, where he will likely microwave it to his tastes. My companion and I ordered our smaller steaks medium. Mine was medium well. I was disappointed, but ate it anyway. My companion's steak was well-done. She sent it back, only to receive a steak that was between rare and medium rare. She had to send that steak back. It was still just medium rare when she received it but she refused to make any more of a fuss about it. In other words, for a steakhouse, whoever was cooking the steaks really ruined our meals. Let me add that I was stunned by the VERY high price for the surf and turf. We won't be back.

This restaurant is satisfactory considering where it is located and the clientele it serves. Their soup is overbearing and not worth having. Instead , you might want to opt for a salad , which is sufficient but not something you wouldn’t find elsewhere. Their steaks are advertised as being 16 ounce although I would venture to tell you they are more like 12 ounce once cooked. You should select the baked potato or veggie mix as they were very good. Skip the garlic mashed , as it’s a small serving served with a gravy that’s inedible. Do select their salmon . It was very good and made right. As for dessert, everything we had was delicious.

The fries are frozen, not hand cut. The fish was over cooked and tasteless. The gravy we ordered and paid for was not put in the bag.

What an Amazing dining experience!! Food, Service and Atmosphere was exceptional. We celebrated a special occasion and we enjoyed “The Ultimate Feast for Two” it was a bit pricy, but we really enjoyed it! Highly recommend the Town and Country Steak and Seafood Restaurant.. We will be back!!
