We ate here last night with some friends. The duck taco and the Phillibuster taco were delicious but were small for the price, about $5 each. We also ordered the “Three branches of salsa” that comes with three different salsas with tortilla chips which were delicious but expensive at $7 for its size. Service was great and the atmosphere was inviting. View all feedback.
What Jen Norton doesn't like about Gov't Taco:
This place has the potential to be amazing but maybe it could use some actual governing..The pithy menu, great atmosphere, mostly clean dining room, super friendly staff, and fast kitchen. Chips and blackbeans are Awesome!!! Imo the rest of food comes out way too spicy. Instead of just flavor it is all followed up with heat. Everything has an aftertaste of Slap Yo Mama. Even the children's tacos are covered in hot sa... View all feedback.
A worse and worse experience each time I went. I’d recommend you go eat somewhere else. Essentially mediocre hipster food in a quirky hipster atmosphere, with very poor quality of service and food, and poor parking. The staff at the restaurant seem to genuinely not care about customer service/the actual experience people have in their restaurant. Bartenders are not friendly or welcoming, actually the opposite. Menu not up to date. False advertising on prices of drinks and happy hour deals. Most … – show

Easy to access location. Decent amount of seating both indoors and out (outdoor is covered). Unique modern feel. Variety of taco options. Bar on site. Prices are a bit high for the amount of food you get. Three tacos, one shareable, and two fountain drinks was almost $30.
Absolutely love this place! They have been very busy since reopening at this new location (RIP White Star Market), so plan on waiting in line for a little while, but it's totally worth the wait. We grabbed a couple of really good beers from the brewery next door to make our wait in line a little better and ended up making a few new friends in line and ate tacos with them. As always, the tacos were amazing. Props to the chef/owner! Just a PSA, parking is limited at the restaurant, but do not pa … – show
This place is a staple on Government Street here in Baton Rouge and only one trip there will convince you that it's with good reason! The food menu here is inventive to say the least… “normal” tacos and new twists that change monthly… and the quality is amazing! There is also a well-stocked bar with cocktails, wine and beer available. The staff is friendly and it has become one of my favorite places to stop and grab a quick meal. Can't recommend highly enough!
