I booked a table as it was from us. we sat right away. the food was good, not brilliant, but good. there was an unusual vege for a carousel. would have liked to have petersnips (as they did earlier), but everyone to his own I suppose. the young man waiting for our table was very pleasant and beautiful with the children. What 7JonB7 doesn't like about Toby Carvery:
The food was at best warm, as well as just above cold. The utensils were the warmest part and I even burnt my hand when I picked one up to get some brussel sprouts. Then when I sat down, the table wobbled. View all feedback.
In covid meant that our boxing day-lunch routine of going to toby did not happen and until the day this year was on a knife edge, but we could go ahead. in contrast to the previous years, the place was not full and the table distances were good, so the social division was in order. with taking the carvery, everything was table service and our family were the only people at the same time at the carvery servery with others according to the same pattern, so very safe. with regard to eating: the pate star might have more taste, but the accompanying chutney was so fair enough. two of us went for the lamb and two the gammon without complaining. an excellent selection of vegetables with only small niggers, i.e. the carrots were a little soft and the sprouts were cooled. three people went for chocolate brownie dessert and one for festive crumbs with crippled. the wee and other drinks were too fair to praise and the staff was friendly and efficient, so, given the fact that a gastro-pub experience was not expected, it was a really nice lunch.

I had a disappointing experience at the restaurant during Christmas Lunch. The prawn cocktail starter only had 3 prawns, and the main course was not great with cold vegetables and burnt potatoes. When I asked for a piece of beef without blood, the chef made a comment about me being fussy. The cheese board had 2 tiny pieces of cheese and 4 crackers, with the cheese being dried up and broken. To make matters worse, I ended up with an upset stomach and feeling sick for 24 hours, while others only had a slight stomachache. Although my symptoms were not serious enough to require treatment, it was still a very unpleasant experience. This was the worst meal I have had at Toby, and I only went because family in South Yorkshire had booked it. I will not be returning.
I took my son to this restaurant and he was very impressed with everything. The food was great, the atmosphere was nice, and the staff were lovely. They greeted us with a smile and took good care of us. We didn't have to wait long to be served with food and drinks, which were both of a very high standard. I will be bringing my sister to the Friendship club on Thursday as a new member.
Terrible, parked here not knowing you have to register your car, it's despicable. No one in the pub mentioned this. I've received a fine and will not be going back there. They are going to lose trade.
