What GH24 doesn't like about The Barking Dog:
The pub is decent but lacks some character. They serve decent food and beer at competitive prices. The service was mixed - the food waiter was very good, but the barmaids were not very friendly. It wouldn't be my top choice, but it worked for this particular occasion. View all feedback.
I went to breakfast with a friend this morning and it was absolutely beautiful. customer service is great, the place is clean, quiet. so a beautiful atmosphere. very well maintained and even the toilets were conceivable, hygienic and clean. we ordered two big English breakfasts! pity that they do not come with hot drinks, but the prices were reasonable. the hot drinks we ordered were refillable, so it was a beautiful surprise. only problem is it not an all-day breakfast as it ends at 11 o'clock, however there is an extensive menu, from vegetarian to vegan, so they are spoiled for the choice. the place is very organized and discreet. kant fault it! I would recommend it and will definitely be back! thank you. the barking dog-wetherspoons
Located in Barking, the pub isn't in the best area but that doesn't take away the shine from the place, it has a lovely atmosphere and staff are incredibly friendly. Like all spoons, food and drinks are cheap and it seems you're more than welcome to smoke outside so long as you remain away from the front doors. An added bonus is that it is right next to the station, so it's very helpful if you've just finished work in the city and want to get of the train for a quick pint or meal. There are often tables free during the week, however, on Fridays and Saturdays you will find it difficult to find a table, on Saturdays I'd recommend getting there around noon as it tends to get busy around 1pm-2pm.
This pub offers both indoor and outdoor dining options. It's a great spot to grab a drink while watching a football game. They have a nice selection of beers and other beverages. Excellent!
On March 12, 2021, my two colleagues and I were asked to leave this pub because we were deemed too loud for a child in the nearby booth. An off-duty bartender removed us for laughing too loudly, which, in a pub on a Friday night, seems unreasonable. The complaint came from a child who was sensitive to loud noises, but it seems inappropriate to bring a child to a pub in the first place. This pub is not ideal for children, as even those without physical IDs were not allowed entry. The suggestion that everyone in the pub was quiet is inaccurate, and the bartender should acknowledge his mistake. It was unnecessary, arrogant, and seemed like an abuse of authority. I have frequented this pub every week for the past 3 years and have always been polite and respectful. When I discussed the situation with the security guard and manager outside, they were unable to provide a valid reason for our removal. I suggest reviewing the CCTV footage to see that our behavior was not excessive. My advice is to take children to Winter Wonderland instead of the Barking Dog, as it is not a suitable environment for them. The staff member usually appears calm and composed, but on this occasion, his decision seemed irrational. If this is how customers are treated, it is disappointing. I hope to receive some form of apology from the establishment, or I may no longer patronize a pub where I have enjoyed spending time for the past 3 years.
