Šaris Castle - Bardejov

Another fortification/castle/fortress from many more in this eastern region of Slovakia. It is under reconstruction. Distance from the parking lot around 4 kilometers and elevation to gain 250 meters. Very poor markings and quite difficult to find a parking lot. Parking lot is gravel/ground and on a slope, with enough space. Almost whole distance from parking lot to the top of the hill is in dense forest on a utility road. Well worth the visit.

One of the oldest burg in the region presow. to reach the castle, they either have to go up 2 km on the hills or drive it up. there is a parking space at the bottom where you can park and go the car. they get the good view of the city from the top of the castle. the lock is in ruins and there is an entry fee to get into the lock. good place to visit if they have two hours of time when they stay in presow. the road that leads to the castle from the parking lot is not so good and is even risky for the intermediate cyclists.

Nice ruins of castle. The area is used as a picnic park, so bring some food with you. You can even sleep in one of the old towers.

Nice castle and area, good walk for little Sunday exercise as family. Admission fee changed to 2€ per adult not 1€ as website saying. Also another payment is required to go on top of the tower which is chaotic if you come afternoon. Lovely old gentleman on entrance made us feel welcome and found the way how to show our English guests the tower and we were really grateful for that, until young man on top of tower had a go at us that we dare to come up without tickets. Lovely argument and embarrassing situation for guests I brought from other country. There was No need of swearing words towards visitors and blaming colleagues for their personal behaviour. Little bit of customer service training would be big help for this nice place as rude and disrespectful staff never brought place up just down. Good luck.
