Food and drinks were great. Service was a bit slow but they were very crowded. Only nit was our daily special salads were advertised as having artichokes but didn't. If they ran out they should tell you! View all feedback.
What charles d doesn't like about Chef's Table At Sorrento's:
I felt it was overpriced for the quality of the food. I had the tuna which by itself was good. It came with a side of white rice that was as about as plain as it sounds. My wife had the sea bass that came with mashed potatoes and 4 aspargus. All very bland. Each dish was about $45 each. Add an appetizer, a couple of salads and a bottle of wine (nice wine selection) and it was around $240 for dinner. Now don't get me... View all feedback.
I've been here twice with my family, and I wasn't disappointed. This Is a very formal restaurant and the employees and staff always male sure you are having the best dining experience. We weren't rushed, and I'm not lying when I say that the food was the BEST by far I've ever eaten in my life. Don't even get me started on the desserts. They put on an entire show in the restaurant while they make you dessert, so if you grab dinner here one night, make sure you get a dessert because you won't forget your experience. The desserts and food is just something out of this world and I strongly recommend this place especially if your have a special occasion its a really fun time!
Fine dining depending on your definition. We booked a reservation to celebrate my husband's birthday on a Saturday evening. The menu looked fantastic so we were excited to try it. We arrived about 15 min early, but then waited quite a while past our reservation time for a table. Meanwhile, we sat in the lobby and could hear their live singer, along with a quite rowdy crowd. Don't get me wrong the singer is quite talented. But the others participating in the drunk singalong? not so much. It was too loud in the lobby to hear conversation and it would have been impossible to enjoy our meal as a family in the wedding reception with people we don't know vibe. After the long wait for our table, we asked the hostess to please seat us in Sorrento's which she did (it was almost 9pm before we got drinks. Grateful for the Italian comfort food but it was not the fine dining experience I had hoped for on my husband's birthday.
Was so disappointed with this place. First we were sat outside the restaurant in a walkway to the patio upstairs overlooking the downstairs waiting area, lots of loud kids, which that’s not the kids fault but we went to a nice restaurant and wanted to experience that atmosphere. They did move us after we asked but sadly our meal was very disappointing. I had the Salmon and my Husband the Filet and we both had the Chopped salad which was the best thing we had. Got my husband’s order incorrect, and his steak was well past medium rare. My salmon was dry and chewy with no flavor and the mashed potato’s were also nothing but that potato. For the there’s way better dining options in the area. They advertise upscale and the food does not match. Service was subpar.
We heard the reviews of this restaurant and were happy to get a last minute reservation. I wish I had read the reviews here before reserving however. It’s more of a bar feeling than I’d prefer and too loud of an atmosphere then I was seeking. I prefer not to hear cackling women at the bar and be in an environment where I can’t hear myself talk. The waiter could hardly hear us give our order It’s my fault for not doing more research on the restaurant and from the pictures online I has assumed it was more continental and quiet. Aside from That the singer was very talented and kept the crowd engaged. The menu options were varied and all was delicious. The flambé dessert man performed his own show which was delightful! Definitely order a flambé if you go!
Not a great experience. We made reservations 11 weeks ahead of time for our dinner. We were seated 20 minutes late. Our party of six was seated at a square table designed for 12 so having a conversation was difficult. During our entire evening no one apologized for the delayed seated or the less-then-ideal table design. The dessert cart was stored next to our table, which was frequently used along with a wait staff cabinet. The food was good, but overpriced. The singer/music was good, but too loud for the room size. We will not return as there are better choices for us in Banner Elk.
