What Dena Homenick doesn't like about Ballarat Wholefoods Cafe:
Have been here for lunch, afternoon tea, coffee on seperate occasions. It is great for ballarat to have an 100% gluten free cafe. Lots of options on menu catering to different dietary requirements. Option to sit outside in street inside has tables, window booth. High...chairs available and some toys. Sells take home products. The food and coffee has always been good. Crunchy gluten-free toast, perfectly poached egg, beautiful soy flat white, good playlist, helpful waiting staff and pleasant modern, bright atmosphere provide a pleasant experience and a great start to the day. I recommend it.
Reopened as a higher society . they love the renovation, and the new menu is brilliant. the pork belly burger looks and tastes great.
Being a coeliac traveller can be difficult, worrying about cross contamination etc., but everything on the menu is gluten free, so eat with a relaxed confidence. Absolutely lovely, welcoming staff, great food, tasty, and cooked perfectly. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal, and would definitely come...back.
My friend I ordered the healthy option of the broccoli bacon soup. The soup was served with shredded old wood hidden in with the broccoli. It was like pulling bones from fish, my friend took a small spoonful a splinter of wood...lodged in her throat. Staff took their time to bring water, bread was requested and without any urgency staff finally agreed to provide but asked if we'd like it toasted? We didn't care!! My friend was choking with a splinter of wood stuck in her throat!!! Turned out the wood was thyme left in the soup for added flavour. I asked if anyone had tasted the soup was aware of the old wooden splinters in the soup. They said yes you just pull them out no apology!!!!! NO REGARD FOR THE SAFETY OF THEIR CUSTOMERS!!!!! And why wouldn't you use fresh young herbs???? How does woody stalks add flavour ???? !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NEVER EVER AGAIN !!!!!!!!!!
